One needs to check the author of the article. They may not be a newspaper employee, but a blogger that the on-line newspaper chooses to include in their coverage. In that case, they are just filling up space on the website. They get paid by the piece, and there is no editing involved as the news organization doesn't manage the article in any way.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have never run across a webpage that had the top, right, middle missing because they run out of articles. At the bottom? Oh yeah, tons of empty space, but usually when the content stops, so does my ability to scroll down further. |

Well I had the 'opportunity' to further test wireless connectivity in Windows 10 thanks to P.O.S. Comcast this morning. When on Win 7 I was unable to connect my desktop to my phone hotspot through t-mobile. This morning Comcast was down, I brought up the hotspot and connected without any issue whatsoever.
Good stuff! |

Good for you Kenny. Careful with streaming over hotspot. Not sure if W10 is capable of detecting a hotspot as a metered connection.

I don't know if this was something specific to Windows 10 or if it comes under S^+* happens but suddenly non of my email accounts would sync.
It turned out windows had reclassified my wifi network as public for some reason. |

I've recently having trouble with WiFi on my SP3, it would give me the dreaded "Limited" connection, and sometimes no WiFi at all. I could turn it off and back on and get WiFi for a while, then lose it again. I was about ready to pack it up had head for the Microsoft store, but decided to let Google be my friend.
I soon found a couple of articles that said Hyper-V was the culprit, and if I turned it off it would fix it, although I haven't a clue about how it got turned on. Reaserching further I found the command line string "bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off" and wallah! WiFi was back in all its glory. I found another way to turn it off by going to "settings" and searching for "Windows Features" which would bring up a list of things (most of which I have no idea of what they do) and uncheck "Hyper-V" Both methods require a reboot to actually turn Hyper-V off. The problem arises for those people who actually use virtual machines, I wonder if VirtualBox or some other VM software would exhibit the same problem. I don't know and until I need to run a VM I don't care! Maybe MS will have it fixed by then but I'm not holding my breath. |

well it's on 100 million PCs now so there is obviously some interest. a quarter of Steam users are already on Windows 10. it's global market share is at 7.8%, already more than OSX. windows xp is down to just 8.2%

OK, there are new things in Vista, 7, 8, and 10, but are they things I would really want or even need to do my daily computing stuff? Not really. As far as operating systems go, Windows 2000 was as close to perfect as possible. Quite small (650 MB installed), had everything an operating system needed, and nothing it didn't. Current Windows versions need something like 12 GB (not counting hibernation and swap files) when starting out, and they get bigger when updates download and install. They also contain a huge amount of stuff and out-of-the-box applications I'll never use because I have had something better for 25 years already. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 10-27-2015 at 02:55 PM. |
