PRS-650: E-Ink Pearl or Vizplex?

So yesterday I finally got my PRS-650 after 2 weeks of deciding which e-reader I should buy.
Now because of this E-book reader matrix right here i was certain that the Sony PRS-650 uses the E-Ink Pearl technology. But when I turn the power of the device on, it says "E-Ink Vizplex" at the bottom of the screen.
Living in Germany it's hard to get your hands on E-book readers in stores, so I had almost nothing to compare different e-readers and could only rely on the internet for information on them. So does the PRS-650 use the newest screen technology Pearl or does it use Vizplex?

It's using the newest screen technology, whatever it's called.

The same question has been raised and answered on the German forums.

Pearl is just its marketing name and Vizplex V220 is the number of the modell.

Here is a link to the German thread.

And here is a link to an English thread about this topic.

Yep, it's using the Pearl screens, even though it displays 'Vizplex' at the bottom of the screen. When I first got my Sony PRS-350 I compared it to my Kindle DX Graphite, and the screens were the same.

As has been posted in several other threads: Vizplex is the name of the e-ink screen, pearl is simply the designation of the latest version of Vizplex...
