I am having trouble applying the hofix on my Paperwhite Signature 11th Generation, running FW 5.17.1.0.3. I am using WinterBreak 1.4.1, with the following winterbreak.log:

I have been unsuccessful in the install so far. I follow the steps but when I go to the Kindle Store and am prompted to turn off airplane mode, it loads for a few seconds then the normal Kindle store pops up. No WinterBreak icon

5.17.2 Kindle Scribe 2022

I have tried a factory reset. I dont see a LocalStorage directory on my device to delete per the instructions. I am using MacOS and the Kindle USB Manager app with this

delete the cache directory at the path .active_content_sandbox/store/resource/LocalStorage (Skip this step if the LocalStorage directory does not exist)

During Jailbreaking & hotfix, I found there is no issue, runs as expected.
(Please find the attached winterbreak.txt)

But during installing KUAL+MRPI, I got this "Application Error, the selected application could not be started. please try again". and the screen goes to the Home and found KUAL Book.

FYI, I use this file "Update_KUALBooklet_18b218e_install.bin" and put under mrpackages folder.

If I check to the mrinstaller.log I found "Illegal instruction", please find the attached mrinstaller.txt for the full log.

Can anyone advise on this?

If KUAL is there and runs normally when you open it then there's no issue, you can ignore any error during the installation, it happens often. Enjoy your jailbroken Kindle

Hi BionicGecko, thanks a lot for your advises, glad that now I'm able to run KOReader on my Kindle by using Marek's koreader nightly builds.

There is a folder called .active_content_sandbox on my kindle. The guide says to make sure that it is copied (I am on Linux). Is it safe to remove it and replace it with WinterBreak's .active_content_sandbox?

It should be safe. If you are unsure, make a backup.

This is probably a stupid question, but after successfully jailbreaking my KOA3, I noticed a new item under Settings labeled "KFT." Can anyone tell me WTH that is? I don't THINK it was there before the jailbreak, but I'm not 100% certain...

okay I have KUAL installed, but I am having trouble figuring out how to get Koreader onto my Kindle Scribe 2022. I have the nightly Hf version downloaded. From my reading it seems that I should just be able to copy over the koreader file onto the root storage, but it is just not working. Any guidance would be appreciated

I'm kinda new to kindle jailbreaking and want to know what are the possibilities
?
I know the most game changing one would be koreader but I wanna know more.
is there any exhaustive list/wiki of all the tools/apps/hacks to run on a jailbroken kindle? something like those "github awesome lists" perhaps?

I tried searching but couldn't find something like that.

I have just installed WinterBreak. I think it worked, since nothing unexpected happened. However, I'm having issues with installing hotfix:
1. Shows the Update Error modal
2. Kindle auto-removes the hotfix file from the root
3. I cannot locate "Update Kindle" menu in the settings.

I also cannot install KUAL/MRPI. After moving all the files in the correct folders, searching for ";log mrpi" does nothing.

I'm not sure if I was able to jailbreak the device properly.
