Hello all,

I hope that someone could possibly help me.

I have a Kindle Voyage, Firmware 5.13.6 which I want to jailbreak.
I thought it had worked this morning but at end koreader wouldn't launch despite the jail break seemed successful.

So reset my kindle to its factory setting and set it up again. And now when after I installed the winterbreak and want to move on to hotfix (which asks me to) and I add the file "Update_hotfix_universal.bin" to my kindled as per instructions, I can't update the kindle no matter how often I try.

I follow all the steps and can't explain why it wouldn't work. However, one thing that is weird is, that I have a file called "kindle feedback" on my kindle now and it won't disappear even after the factory reset. I did not have this before and can't delete it...

Maybe someone has an idea why I can't update and run the hotfix

All I can think of is that you renamed the OTA binaries to disable them and never re-enabled them before the factory reset. That would block updates from being installed.

If you installed a hf version of KOReader, you need to be on firmware 5.16.3 or higher.

As I can’t run hotfix, I can’t move forward with the other steps.

Re-install firmware 5.13.6

I don't think that an hf firmware has been released for the Voyage, so that part should not be an issue.

Will the Kindle store, Wispersync and Kindle Insights still work after jailbreak?

After the reset the kindle is running the firmware 5.13.6. and I can't seem to re-install it.

However it seems that with some workarounds I managed the jailbreak it again. But how do I know what is the right version of KOreader? I'm honestly a little lost here.

I'm trying to restore a Kindle Scribe 1st Gen 2024 to factory firmware after using WinterBreak. After I upload the Scribe firmware to the device and disconnect it from my PC, it says, Update Error an invalid update file has been loaded on your device... How can I reflash the device with the factory firmware? Firmware version is 5.17.2- that's the same as the firmware I downloaded from Amazon.

After reviewing the firmware list, I'm guessing the Scribe firmware I downloaded is only for the first release and not the 2024 model.

Does anyone have a link to 5.17.2 firmware for the Scribe 1st Gen 2024 model?

amazon doesn't provide initial firmware, presumably because that site is for updates. I doubt it has occurred to them that a corruption problem might be fixed by a re-install and their initial releases are always so buggy that the first update (usually happens pretty quickly. (And early adopters just have to sit on their expensive toy until an update comes out.)

Edit: I'm on a Mac and I just repeated the instructions a few times. Eventually it worked but part of that may have been the fact that on a Mac, I didn't first show hidden files.

Kindle's own tool didn't help but the OPENMTP software did the trick.

What you are asking for is contradictory - there is the Scribe 2022 model (1st gen) and the Scribe 2024 model (2nd gen).
