Autoreboot went away?
Hello! I apologise in advance if this has been discussed before; my searches did not generate any hits.
I installed the jailbreak, screensaver, and font hacks which went very well. I screwed everything up when I tried to put my own fonts in place of the hack's. I recovered and uninstalled the font hack. Now, it appears that the autoreboot feature doesn't work when I use it from the linkss directory. Thanks for your help, and the hacks! I got bored with the default images about a week in. Here's my best screensaver image so far as further thanks: Neal Stephenson |

hey i got a kindle a while ago and i recently decided that the screensavers were pretty lame (i usually just turn it off when im not using it) and i used the jailbreak and now im trying to install the screensaver hack and i've been working on this for about an hour. i have a kindle 3 wifi. i thought i had installed it the first time but the linkss/screensaver folder never popped up so i installed it again and it didn't work so i uninstalled it and then tried to reinstall it and it keeps saying that the update failed and it will just restart straight away. HELP!

I have a k2 (B002) unit with 2.5.7 firmware.
When I try to install jailbreak I am getting a U007 error. When it said this is for 2.5.x firmware, does that include .7? thanks. |

Hi All
I been lurking here for a couple of weeks and while waiting for my K3 3g to arrive... and it did this morning!!! Anyway... I immediately tried to root it as I've had the jailbreak files on my desktop for the last couple of weeks... ![]() I followed the instructions but I do NOT get the 'Update Your Kindle' option in the settings menu... it is grayed out... The model is D009xx (all the models listed on the jailbreak faq start with 'B') Firmware is : 3.0.2 I'm in Canada... Also, would it matter if I jailbreaked it before/after I register? Help! Thanks! |

A glance at my post count will reveal me to be new at this, but I think I can answer your questions. The ID number at which you should be looking is your serial number, not the model number. This can be found in the settings page. Once you've found that, make sure that you're using the correct jailbreak file. As far as I understand, the update option will not be available if the firmware update file is the wrong one for the device. Good luck! |

Just curious, our fearless leader, NiLuJe, used to be here very regularly but apparently has taken a leave of absence. Will this person be back to support our cravings and keep up with the newer firmware releases?
But in any event - thanks, NiLuJe, for all that you've done. |

if I want to upgrade font hack from 3.7 to 4.2, do I need to uninstall 3.7?

Thank you so much for this! I'm almost there -- the only possible glitch is my italic ttf font seems a tad larger than my regular font. I'm not sure I understood your directions entirely. Were ANY changes to be made to the italic font? Your lead-in says make the following adjustments to each of the four ttf files, but then only has categories (I think) for regular and bold. Do I apply either or both of those adjustments to the italic ttf file? How about the bolditalic ttf file? I'm sure I am misunderstanding somehow, but maybe you (or someone else) can clarify for me? Thanks in advance Edit: OK, I think I figured it out. Kinddog's Regular adjustments get applied to both the Regular and the Italic ttf files; his Bold adjustments get applied to both the Bold and the BoldItalic ttf files. Yes? Also, I think I was not initially using Glyph Transformer right. I thought it was showing me the properties of my opened font; instead, it appears to be giving scripts to run and apply to your existing font. In essence, you need to input Kinddog's adjustments as your script to apply -- make sure his adjustment is the only one showing in the right-hand pane of Glyph Transformer before you click OK. Hope that makes it easier for someone else who is as new to font manipulation as I am. Last edited by rogerinnyc; 02-04-2011 at 04:32 PM. |

Inspired by kinddog I had a go at the Times New Roman in FontCreator. The regular font needed some thickening, otherwise it wouldn't be easily legible. Effects -> bold horizontal 20, vertical 15 made it very nice. I would encourage everyone to have a go at their favorite font and adapt it to the Kindle. It takes some experimenting, but the result can be very satisfying.
