@rumblpak: Yep, that's it. That and the USBNetwork Hack install log (if you still have it). You can archive them in whatever archive format you prefer, that should help a lot with the filesize

@NiLuJe: Installed jailbreak and fonthack. Works like a dream! Also renamed Times New Roman to Serif_*.ttf and overwrote the files in fontlink/fonts but it's too thin for the screen. No, the Serif_*.ttf that comes with the hack (which I had sensibly backed up) is much better, but what is it?

@bartveld: It's Droid Serif, from the Droid family (from the Android Open Source SDK).

hey NiLuJe. I used the droid on the weekend on a k2 and it was fine. Last night I received another k3 and did all the usual breaks etc. Loaded up the droid file as per normal, and a variety of issues resulted after each forced restart The home page text would disappear, or when selecting something from the menu there would be these lines that would go across the page, looking like it was selecting a book but the book wasn't showing, and which would appear underneath the menu panel but go across it. Or I couldn't use the menu buttons or couldn't get to the settings page. As soon as I recopied the fonts from another hacked kindle (using the fonts created through the font hack) then everything returned to normal. The first two times I did a return to factory settings as it is basically a new kindle.
Is it possible that in the last couple of days the droid zip has become corrupted? Like I said, the actual font hack worked fine it was only when I tried changing it to the other droid zip that it all went downhill, four times. Maybe I can copy the fonts from the k2 into the new k3? Are the font files (once hacked) unique to each model? |

@Pushka: I updated the zip on the 22nd, but none of the main fonts were changed (ie. Serif_Regular), and I used those for about two days without any issue, so that's weird. And like I said, they're basically the same files than those installed by default with the hack (and they also got the same update as the zip files).
I assume you did a proper framework restart each time? If that doesn't fix it, try a full restart. And no, the fonts aren't modified on each Kindle, they're the same. Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-27-2010 at 06:40 PM. |

Bump USBNet to v0.17.N

Bump USBNet to v0.18.N
* Make it clear that the config is in usbnet/etc/config, and editing the vars in the usbnetwork script itself won't do a thing. * Handle fw 3.x's usbnetd init script probings to avoid doing an unnecessary start/stop cycle during reboots/shutdowns. |

NiLuJe, your great work much appreciated again and again.
USBNet over WIFI doesn't work under the following settings. After I edit iptables INPUT policy manually from DROP to ACCEPPT, then wifi telnet/ssh work. Any problem with bin/usbnetwork script? Or something wrong with my settings? It would be appreciated if you advise me. /mnt/us/usbnet/etc/config K3_WIFI="false" K3_WIFI_SSHD_ONLY="false" /etc/sysconfig/iptables after ;debugON and ~usbNetwork #iptables-save v1.3.8 on Thu Apr 1 09:20:23 2010 *filter :INPUT DROP [0:0] :FORWARD ACCEPT [0:0] :OUTPUT ACCEPT [0:0] -A INPUT -i ppp0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 40317 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i ppp0 -p tcp -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i wlan0 -p tcp -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i wlan0 -p udp -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i ppp0 -p udp -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i lo -s 127.0.0.1 -j ACCEPT -A OUTPUT -o lo -d 127.0.0.1 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i usb0 -j ACCEPT -A OUTPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT COMMIT # Completed on Thu Apr 1 09:20:23 2010 |

@hondamarlboro: Yep, the iptables rules are changed only when
K3_WIFI="true" ![]() And even then, that'll still switch to eth over usb & launch telnetd until K3_WIFI_SSHD_ONLY="true" To recap: K3_WIFI=true + K3_WIFI_SSHD_ONLY=false : Eth over USB, telnetd, sshd, SSH over WiFi. K3_WIFI=true + K3_WIFI_SSHD_ONLY=true : SSH over WiFi. K3_WIFI=false + K3_WIFI_SSHD_ONLY=false : Eth over USB, telnetd, sshd (basically, like the K2 hacks) And that makes K3_WIFI=false + K3_WIFI_SSHD_ONLY=true pretty useless ![]() ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-28-2010 at 12:40 PM. |

Bump USBNet to v0.19.N
* Fixed dropbear for scp support. scp to the kindle shouldn't horribly die anymore ![]() * Bundle & symlinks an lsof binary * Symlink rsync into $PATH * Bundle & symlinks an htop binary, because busybox's top made me want to tear my face off, and because htop rocks. (Note that we don't have the usual htop pretty colors, but it's still far more usable than busybox's top). |
