i cant upgrade to 3.02. how do you do it. my update button is grayed out?

just checked out amazon's support page this cant be done through your kindle's wifi connection?

Please tell us, is there any way to make a costum firmware for the kindle3?
Or maybe add some special options and functions to the kindle3?

like:
• silent mode (block/do not send or receive any data from wifi/3g)
• enable/disable features like microphone, gps etc
• additional format support
• unlocking features
• homebrew/plugins..

Since there is now a jailbreak out there, it should be possible, but a good piece of work.

I allways compare it a little with the psp costum firmware.
The normal psp is just normal, but the one with the costum firmware is unleashed and brings ALOT more features.

The greatest thing about the Kindle3 is the fast speed and the good display!

Just think of a kindle3 hardware with a proper costum firmware with all the great and nice to have features.

as its a preview release it has to be done manually,once it becomes official it will be rolled out over wireless to all kindles

@everyone with K2 isues: Checking if I somehow broke something with the new jailbreak/packager, that's weird.

@Pushka: Get into recovery mode if the device is stuck in infinite-reboot land (by holding the [HOME] key while starting up), removing the .bin, rebooting, and installing it the proper way (ie. as an OTA update, not a Manual one ;p).

I think the kindle itself is fine and working, just those dead people are still there. I will suggest to them they simply try again. Thanks again NiLuje.

Ahah. Indeed. The K3 JB method doesn't work on FW 2.x. That's fun.

EDIT: Yeah, got why it doesn't work. Repackaging to fix that right now...

Here we go, fixed & bumped the JailBreak to v0.3.N, to avoid confusion. Install working once again for FW 2.x devices

. That'll teach me to try to save ~800 bytes of data per model without testing first

Yes! Thank you very much indeed! It worked out on k2i and 2.5.6.

Jailbreak produced U006 error and then Fonthack installed without problem!
