now, am I brave enough to give it a go, my first kindle........this voids the warrenty I expect?

Hi Ni Lu Je. Someone in Amazon is getting this error message for the screensaver hack.
update_ss_0.11.N_k2i_install.bin
Error 0003 - press 'R' to resume or restore (can't remember which now).

Any ideas? The kindle was hacked first.

@Pushka: As always, *DON'T* restart your Kindle with a custom .bin in the root folder. I assume that's what happened for this person, because the otaup error codes all start with 'U', whereas the manual updates error codes can look like that, AFAIK).

@JSWolf: We discussed this a bit more in another thread. In short: the fonts packaged in the hack are okay. I don't package the default fonts anymore in the hack itself. As for the rest, that may be somewhat more shady for a very few number of them, but they've been linked with ther hacks for a long time, so I assumed it was okay. Discussing it with mods right now.

EDIT: Pulled a bunch of them, to be on the safe side.

I've tried installing the screen saver hack 3 times now, and upon updating I get an error U007 and nothing installs. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Oh I forgot, I'm on a K2 with version 2.5.6

@tdavis74: You'll have to reinstall the jailbreak. Then uninstall your hacks, but make sure the jailbreak is the *last* thing you uninstall.

there are jailbreak files all over the place, is there a specific one I should use? Do I uninstall what I have for screen savers now and then install the jailbreak again? How will I know that the jailbreak file worked this time?

It won't let me uninstall the screensaver files either, U007

@tdavis74: The one from the first post for your specific Kindle model should do fine.

You *need* the jailbreak to be able to install *AND* uninstall custom hacks, so there's no question as to which one should go first/last. When installing hacks, you always install the jailbreak first, and when uninstalling hacks, you always uninstall the jailbreak last.

The only way you know if your jailbreak is working is when trying to install/uninstall a custom hack. If it fails with a U007 error, then your Kindle isn't properly jailbroken.

So I did the install of the jailbreak again. Got the U004 error. Did the Install file for the SS, and it gave me the U007 again. Is the jailbreak file not installing for some reason?

I am having the exact same issue as tdavis74... point for point, item for item.

I also have the K2i. The K2i jailbreak software loaded as outlined, however, when I went to install the screensaver software, I also received the U007 error.

I attempted to uninstall both screensaver and jailbreak software using correctly designated uninstall software, same fail -- same error.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Success. Worked great on my K3 wifi. Well at least the jailbreak and SS. Havent messed with the fonts yet. Thanks!

Outstanding work! JB installed successfully on K3 3.02.

Any chance of an installable to enable the Justification dialog, and add a "Most" choice to the "Words per Line" by changing margins to < 40?

The only way you know if your jailbreak is working is when trying to install/uninstall a custom hack. If it fails with a U007 error, then your Kindle isn't properly jailbroken.
