Download the attached kindle-jailbreak-0.10.N.zip file, and unpack it. In here, you'll find a bunch of .bin files, and a src directory.
Leave the directory alone, and upload the correct update_*_install.bin file for your kindle & FW version to the root directory of your Kindle.
(As always, k2 means K2 US, k2i means K2 GW, dx means KDX US, dxi means KDX GW, dxg means KDX Graphite, k3g means K3 3G (US [B006]), k3w means K3 WiFi [B008], k3gb means K3 3G (UK [B00A]) and k4 means K4 [B00E]. The ones suffixed by -3.2.1 are meant for devices running FW >= 3.2.1 *only*!).
For a Kindle 2 International, that would be update_jailbreak_0.10.N_k2i_install.bin for example.

When you say ROOT DIRECTORY, is that where the AUDIBLE, DOCUMENTS, MUSIC and .ACTIVE-CONTENT-DATA are? So I just put the file in there?

I have a Kindle Keyboard wifi (B008), with fw 3.3 (611680021)... so just to be clear, I should use the update_jailbreak_0.10.N_k3w-3.2.1_install.bin file?

I just don't want to make a mistake, I am totally out of my element in here. Thanks!

I think it works. But would I know for sure only if I install the screensaver hack as well?

The man under the tree appeared and disappeared several times, and it made me quite nervous but then it said that it was restarting, and so far everything is still there. Is it safe to assume that I can proceed with the screen hack?

Ooops, had a boo-boo. I put the update_ss_0.27.N_k3w_install.bin in the root directiry, and instead of pressing Update, I wrongly pressed RESTART. Then I got the message Update error:3

Now, I tried to Update but the option is not highlight-able, it's only gray. What to do, how to fix it? Help!

@allvinc: If the update process was successful, it's done. There's no visible effect besides being able to install custom packages.

EDIT: Just re upload the bin file in question as if nothing happened, the reboot is mostly harmless with recent FW versions, but it did delete the file, hence the grayed update link.

is it possible to Update from 0.8 to 0.10 without loosing much? it was a PAIN to get OptWare workin (which i may nee dto redo usbNetworking because its not responding on 192.168.2.2 and its bene over a year since i last touched it.)

if i reallly haveto i guess it'll be lil trouble to do so im getting used to CLI prompts and SSH and Putty thanks to having a RaspberryPi.

RasPi posts are popping up all over the place lately (even multiple posts here). But if you have a Kindle and a RasPi, you can learn "CLI prompts and SSH and Putty" just the same WITHOUT the RasPi...

i installed the update_jailbreak_0.5.1_k3gb_install on my kindle. I live in India and this was the version that got installed, similarly i also installed update_ss_0.27.N_k3gb_install on it. now when i add images to the screensavers folder that have been optimised for kindle, i cannot see them, instead i continue to see the amazon offers'screensavers. please help

The custom screensavers are documented to NOT remove the SO (special offers, special price) stuff.

yes but i cant see the images i have added as custom screensavers during the cycle of screensavers. i can jus see the SO stuff
