@Helgetus: That's to be expected, yifanlu's 0.5.1 won't run on anything other than FW 3.2.1.

But you mentioned 0.8.N installing successfully, so what about the error message when you install the fonts hack?

Again the update 0.8N K3gb bin ... installed successfully
The kindle root contains several more files
3.1-jb.sif, jailbreak 0.8.N_k3gb.sig, linkjail-init.sig, update jailbreak 0.8.N_k3gb.sig.dat and update jailbreak 0.8.N_k3gb.sig.dat.sig

Then the Font hack update_fonts_4.7.N_k3gb_install
Does not install -- Error message U007

@Helgetus: Seems fishy. Try to get a hold of yifanlu's previous jb version, uninstall his, then mine, and reinstall only *one* of them. Unless you unpacked a .bin yourself, you should *not* see those .sig files.

Since I can not uninstall the jailbreak my feeling is that the jailbreak did not install, hence the sig files ...

I did not unpack the bin files for sure!

I will try to find a previous version of yifanlu's and install it, after restart I will install 0.8N. Lets see ..

@Helgetus: No, the mess you're in probably stems from the fact that you already tried to install *both* jailbreaks on top of each other. Don't do that. It's bad. They're mutually exclusive.

EDIT: Scratch that, I most definitely broke the 3.0-3.2 jailbreak in 0.8.N packages (Basically, everything except the k2 & k3-3.2.1 packages). Will fix ASAP. (And that probably explains the mess in your root folder, too...).

I made it work ... googled a jailbreak "update_jailbreak_0.6.N_k3gb_install"

That worked.

After that I installed the font and SS hack.

I'm fine now ..

Thou it still show the firmware 3.1 and 558700031 as before .. never mind.

As promised, a round update/fixes!

* JailBreak v0.9.N:
* On K3 devices, warn & abort the install process if another jailbreak is detected. (As usual, on these devices, when you switch/update a jailbreak, always uninstall it beforehand, never mix them up).
* Also, as Helgetus noted, fix the mess I made of the K3 packages in 0.8.N.

If you happened to try to jailbreak your Kindle 3 running anything else than FW 3.2.1 with 0.8.N, it didn't work, and that wasn't your fault, my bad :x.
You may want to remove the files eventually left over in your Kindle root folder (a bunch of .dat & .sig).
Again, sorry about that, that was a stupid packaging mistake ;/.

* Fonts v4.8.N & ScreenSavers v0.24.N:
* The watchdog will now print a little message in a status bar on the bottom of the screen when triggering an autoreboot. (That may help gauge exactly how much time is spent shuffling screensavers ).

@Helgetus: Yep, that would do the trick, I only happened to break the 0.8.N packages, my bad, and thanks for trying to figure it out!

And none of my hacks automatically alter the version string, so everything's fine there .

Thanks for your support. I was short of letting the jailbreak drop.

Now I am very happy to have the much nicer fonts and individual screen savers!

I might add that I now have several Sans Serif, how do I know which one I'm using, as the font trick did change my original font.

Also is there an order in th screensaver that you pictures load, i.e. alphabetically?

Check the files in linkfonts/fonts/Sans_*.ttf with your Kindle plugged to a computer, that's the fonts used by the fonts hack as the Sans Serif family.

Yep, they're shown in alphabetical order (That's why the shuffle feature just add a 5 digit prefix).

Thanks for the awesome hack(s)! I have a Kindle 3 Wireless and used your jailbreak though I can't find the uninstaller in the zip file(just in case). There's no file named update_jailbreak_0.9.N_k3w-3.2.1_uninstall.bin.
Can you please upload the uninstaller for the 3.2.1 jailbreak? I'd like to keep it ready too, in case of any problems.

When reading a magazine or newspaper, pressing the 5-way controller, displays the menu "Sections&Articles". After having upgraded to the newest version of jailbrake (0.9.N), ScreenSaver (0.24.N) and Fonts (4.8.N) this menu is no longer displayed properly on my US kindle 3G:

1) The fonts are very small - too small for my old eyes.
2) The description of the "prev" and "next" button are gone - The button are still there.

Everything else is working perfect. Using some strong glasses I can work around (1). I'm also able to handle (2) but its looking imperfect.

Can someone confirm this error?
