Font, ScreenSaver & USBNetwork Hacks for Kindle 2.x, 3.x & 4.x

greetings!

I must be really stupid but i cant figure out how to customize fonts after i have installed fontshack. I press [Aa] and dont see any changes there. Which secret key combination should i press?

yes, i have rebooted, yes, all the folders, linkfonts, etc are there

If I recall, the stock screensavers from Amazon also always changed from one to another in the same order every time you put it in sleep mode. The additional functionality of the random feature of the hack is that now every time you restart the Kindle or hold the power slider to turn it completely off, it changes that order.

I don't remember a rotating screen saver before installing the hack. The 'screensaver' is just to tell you that the Kindle is asleep. Why would it waste battery life changing it while 'sleeping'?

But perhaps someone with an unaltered Kindle could confirm?

The default, stock screensavers never changed while the Kindle was asleep. You just get the next image on deck. It stays until you turn it on and put it back (or it goes) to sleep. At which point you get the next image on deck.

QUESTION:linkfonts\fonts in this documents there are Sans_Bold.ttf Mono_Bold.ttf Serif_Italic.ttf and so forth.Are they different from one another?Does that mean I can change the font in my kindle like from Sans_Bold to Serif_Italic by changing the settings?If so,please tell me how to do it.Also if I wanna reset my kindle's font,how do i do it?

I have downloaded " kindle-fonts-4.6.N-k3 " and I copied all the bin files and the folder "linkfonts" to my kindle, but it kept saying that the update was not successful... with the error of U007 at the bottom of the screen.. what should I do with that?
I am a kindle 3.1 user

Did you jailbreak your Kindle first?

I seem to be in a bit of a pickle. I have a broken kindle 3 that I need to return, but it has the jailbreak 0.6 on it. My hard drive died last month, so I lost the 0.6 uninstaller. Should I update to 0.7 and then use the 0.7 uninstaller, or is there some way to get a copy of the 0.6 uninstaller?

This is a quick post please no flames. I have a new Kindle DX version 2.5.5. It seems I have to jailbreak my new device just to get my own screensavers. Do clarknova's files for 2.5.2 work on 2.5.5 (4954600080) ? Thought I'd ask after reading 40 pages and search didn't resolve issue.

I'm new to this too but you should find most answers to potetial queries in the wiki.

This is a good post to look at when you are choosing which font to use. If you have done everything correctly, the end result will be the font you have chosen and you get the normal size and spacing options etc when you press the "Aa" key on the Kindle but with your new font.

so i have to choose one typeface to use all the time?

i thought i would be able to choose them on the fly

@Teeleton: You're safe with the latest uninstallers .

@Barty: You can shuffle them at boot with the 'random' feature, and/or at each autoreboot with the 'shuffle' feature, check the first post.

@lgvenable: Err, you might want to check the Wiki if the first post confused you so .

@fabletones: We can't really add more families than the four the Kindle provides (Mono, Serif, Sans, Condensed), and the hack only switches Mono, Serif & Sans. So, no, if you were looking for a way to get a crazy huge list of font families in the [Aa] menu, that's not it .
