@Nodnarb518: Use the fonts directory from the hack zip file, like you would any of the other font packs .

b) They're backed up in the linkfonts/backups folder, you'll just have to adapt them to use the naming scheme expected by the hack (check the first post).

Ok, I see some Caecilia, Hangul, Helvetica, etc. fonts there. Which one do I have to rename to what?

My kindle screen is broken, too. Amazon has already sent me a replacement, I just wonder if I really need to uninstall all the hacks (hard to do with a broken screen), since I doubt they'll do much to it. Anyone having sent in a K3 with hacks?

Hi all! I realize I'm new here, but I was wondering if someone could help me. I have K2 and back in 2010 I installed the screensaver hack so I could use my own pics as screensavers. Well, my K2 runs fine & all, but I wanted to uninstall the hack so I can get the latest update. Without this, I am unable to make collections or play games on my K2 and I would really like that option. I have the following under my settings:

Version: Kindle 2.3 (399380047) +SSi 0.1

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

My KDXG is at software version 2.5.4. I'm trying to update it to 2.5.8, but at some point I installed the font hack update, and now I can't get it update. I can't remember if the font hack I installed was before or after the Jailbreak method became necessary, but I've been throwing every uninstall.bin I can find at this thing and my Kindle DXG will not update for love, money or even the promise of sexual favors.

I have gotten several error messages throughout this process, including 0003, U007 and U006. I know what I'm meant to be doing, at least I think so- but I don't think I have the right uninstall .bins, or maybe I'm doing something out of order. It's been a while.... is there any resetting involved in this process.

My soul (whatever that's worth) and eternal gratitude to anyone who can help.

Ran the rooting and SS hack for my B008 (K3 Wifi that started with 3.1) and they worked great!!! I made some Star trek Lcars images which work perfectly.

I am having some trouble using USB Networking.

1. Installed Jailbreak and usbnetworking
2. Edited config:

   HOST_IP=192.168.0.112
   KINDLE_IP=192.168.0.49

3. On Kindle:

   <DEL> ;debugOn
   <DEL> ~usbNetwork
   (now usb0 ethernet interface automatically appears.)

4. On Host:

   $ sudo eject Kindle
   $ sudo ifconfig usb0 192.168.0.112
   $ telnet 192.168.0.49
   Trying 192.168.0.49...
   telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host

What did i miss?

Am i correct that the usb0 interface needs to have the inet address of the host computer? (That's what your README tells me)

The MAC address in ifconfig shows ee:49:00:00:00:00.

I also can't ping 192.168.0.49: From 192.168.0.112 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable

Now my DXG already using firmware 3 from K3G through yifanlu method. If I interesting to using your Font Hack, is it possible and which version I should use?

Host: Kindle 3 Global (3.1)
Client: Kindle DX Graphite (2.5.8 to 3.1)

@Zatakawa: You might want to use a completely different subnet than your current network, to avoid conflicts.

@tekkasit: Good question. No idea. The first package that actually installs wins? ;D.

Thanks! I tried it on a different computer and it works fine there with a different IP. By the way, if anyone runs into problems with public key authentication: If you generated a key on the host computer, you may need to log out and log in again on that computer in order to successfully SSH into your Kindle with pubkey-auth.

Those Hacks are really a great work!

OK This is odd. My Kindle 3 and my wife's both have 3.2.1 (576290015) on them. Mine worked with this jailbreak and my wife's didn't!

Hey everyone!

I installed this on Kindle 3.1 firmware, using jailbreak 0.6.N and the ss 0.22.N.

Everything seems to have worked, but when I slide to switch “off” my Kindle, it does indeed show a RANDOM wallpaper that I have installed, but the image never switches away from that one wallpaper. It doesn’t do the slideshow effect like it did before the hack. Also, if I slide to switch “on” and then switch “off” again, it does indeed show me a new random screensaver, but it still doesn’t start rotating through them after some time.

How do I get the automatic rotating functionality back?

Now that I look into it more, actually it's not showing a random one, it's just showing the next screensaver in the sequence, each time I flip the power switch on and off. I have indeed created a file called "random" in the "linkss" directory. I created the file by copying "auto" and renaming it to "random"

That is how it is supposed to work. The image will change each time it is turned off or goes to sleep. It isn't really a screensaver.
