@LTCSZ: More details. Which hack? Blank screen when/where/when doing what?

After installing both the latest jailbreak and the latest Screen Saver hacks, the Kindle works fine, but none of the pictures I have moved into the screen saver sub-directory show up...Whenever there should be a picture, the screen is just blank...This Kindle was purchased at a Staples Office Supply store and not from Amazon...It has been registered and all features work great except for the pictures...We have reverted to "factory defaults" and the regular 'dead authors" pictures appear...Thanks again...

@LTCSZ: A blank screen shouldn't happen, so I'm guessing the images weren't in the right format or something, because it really shouldn't happen, there's a couple of safety checks in place specifically to avoid that...

Note that a factory reset *doesn't* uninstall the hack, it's just disabled as a kind of 'side-effect'.

Just a simple thought, but you did Restart after installing the hack and adding your screensavers? I get the blank screen when I change the screensaver (I put up the cover of the book I am currently reading), and it shows as blank until I do a restart.

@tekkasit: Remove/rename the 'auto' file in linkss, and restart.

@orlok: Yep, that's the only 'way' one should be able to get a blank screen, sweeping screensaver files under the rug of the Kindle without restarting the framework/rebooting.

Call me really slow but

Situation: Kindle 3G with

1. You (NiLuJe's) JB .4N with screensaver hack [version SS .15N] installed,

2. Amazon pushed 3.1 OVER the above JB (.4N) and SS hack (.15N),

3. Finally I installed Yifan Lu’s 0.4 JB over Amazons 3.1.

Everything is working fine BUT to prevent trying to react and sort this forest of hacks and updates in the future I would like “future proof” against the next Amazon firmware/OS “push” as much as possible, given what we know at this point in time.

So if I have read all the information correctly, not sure that I have, I do not have to uninstall the OLD SS hack (0.15N) or your older (NiLuJe's) JB (4N). I can SIMPLY install your (NiLuJe's) SS hack 0.20N [on top of the SS .15N] with Yifan Lu’s 0.4 JB installed??

Also if I want to STOP AMAZON updates in future [until we have time to figure out next round of these hacks] I can put the empty file ENABLE_HACK_UPDATES in the root of the Kindle directory.

Of course the reason I am asking is because I am not certain I have read all the posts and collated all the information together correctly since, questions tend to get asked and answered out of order and sometimes only partially (no ones fault) just the nature of Q&A over a forum like this.

Thanks ahead of time for answering and correcting anything I said that was incorrect

(Except that the ENABLE_HACK_UPDATES stuff is only supported if you're using an older version of yifanlu's jailbreak (not 0.4) or my jailbreak).

@bluesplayer: Oops, I mixed up yifanlu's jailbreak versions, there's no ENABLE_HACK_UPDATES support in the latest (0.4) version. So, no need to do anything to install hacks, but there won't be any way to 'block' official updates without using another hack (updates provider), or another jailbreak.

(Edited my previous post to avoid further confusion).
