Wow! Now (with a shortish learning curve) I can easily fix those pesky PDF to epub conversions that look like cr*p! Thanks for this feature, it's easier than the debug.

Thanks for the tip. It finally happened to be something related to mimeo handling mime types. Uninstalled mimeo, installed xdg-utils, and the problem is solved.

No option to enable tweak epub

Hi

Above it says:

If you have problems:

* I don't see the 'Tweak ePub' option when I right-click a book.
o Open Preferences|Interface|Customize the toolbar
o Select The context menu for books in the calibre library
o In Available actions, select Tweak ePub
o Click the right-pointing arrow, adding the Tweak ePub action to Current actions

I am running calibre 0.7.7 and there is nothing like this in the window for Preferences|Interface
There is a toolbar section with various options under
Select visible columbs
and
Use internal viewer for
That's all.

I have looked through every category of plugin and cannot find any mention of tweak.

That is because the version of Calibre you are running is far too old. The current version is 0.8.28 - around 70 releases later than the one you mentioned.

It also says "New feature in 0.7.20". Now if you're running 0.7.7...

... I leave the conclusion to you.

Is there any reason why you're running such an antiquated version of the program?

Doh! I must have read it as 0.7.2.0

I just installed it from the repository. Next step, download the latest version.

Thanks for your help.

Forget the (your distro) Repository.. It is also Antique (Calibre scale )

Uninstall that version, then use the command line install on the Calibre Linux page for Today's version (I created a 'Launcher' with that string for 1 click weekly usage)

Got it. Thanks.

In fact, the new version installed ok beside the old, and made me an additional menu item next to the old one.

Brilliant piece of software. Power to the developers - and of course FOSS in general, and all those who help others along in using and disseminating it.

I do not recommend leaving 2 versions installed
There are DB upgrades that will no longer play well with an (really) older version
The only reaso to run a relly old Linux version, is you have one of the really old devices that is no longer supported because newer FW changed the driver used by Calibre.

Open the ePub in Sigil to tweak it. For more specific questions here is the Sigil forum and here is the ePub forum.
