My pdfs won't reflow in a way that leaves the text readable . They are maths textbooks.

Are you using Koreader on the i86? Is it an app or an operating system?

My issue is lack of contrast on the pdfs. The typeface is simply too feint. The Neoreader on the i86 is just tolerable using the boldness setting. Anything without that feature will not do.

How to free up storage?

Hi all I have had my i86 for quite a while now and wanted to change some reader apps and try some new ones.
I uninstalled 3 apps and wanted to install gitden epub reader.
I could down load the app but while installing it complained abut not enough storage.
So I removed almost all my books and tried to install again.
Now it dont even download just says that it is not enough space.

Now to my questions:
1)I think I have a lot of temp files or other files on my i86 that bogs my space.
How do I get rid of them?

2) If I get a SD-card does it work to move the apps to the card?

3) a little of-topic question. I have Moon reader installed and recently "long press forward" does not work in the app but changes pages instead. If I highlight a word and then press the round back button the function works but when I have read some pages again it stops working. Anyone have a clue what is wrong?

The apps storage and books storage aren't the same.
In the settings go to "apps" or "manage apps" and see if you have enough free space for apps.
from there you can move some apps to sd card and clear cache to save space.
You can also try deleting the contents of /data/local/tmp/ , but I don't know how to do this on an unrooted device

Is there a way to redefine the space for apps so it becomes bigger?
I.e. repartition the internal storage to hold more MB in the app partition or just make one big partition and store both the apps and the books in one (preferred)?

My device is rooted. Is it safe to just delete the content of /data/local/tmp/ ?

Hi, My i86 fails to turn on properly. I press the on button, the blue LED illuminates and the screen flashes with the "ONYX Welcome to the world of BOOX" message. The blue led stays on but it does nothing after this. On occasion it will start to look like it is booting but only get part way through the process and resets. If I press the power button for a few seconds the LED goes off. I have tried re-charging with no effect. Tried plugging it into my lap top but it will not recognize it.

I have left a few messages at eReader Store.DE but no response (except the usual auto ack). I am concerned that I am getting no response from them. Does anyone know of a way to force a reset or any other suggestions.

Thanks

That's strange. Waldemar has always responded to my support questions within about a day or two. The firmware update tools are available on on the ereader-store website in the download section.

I like it too.

I think at this point that even if Amazon were to put a weatherproof Kindle in their production schedule that I would buy the Kepler Pro instead. Multiple reading software choices on Android is just too useful and Onyx Boox quality is more than adequate.

Agreed. Wish I could find a pen that worked with it, though.

Manual mounting of SD

Hi again,

I am wondering whether anybody is having the following problem &/ knows a solution.

Firstly, I keep all my pdf files on the external SD. When I turn on the i86, it will state that it is "preparing" the SD card, however, no books show up (e.g. in Recently Read). What I must do – which is annoying, but, at least, a consistent work-around – is then go to Storage, and then press the External SD icon. This "mounts" the SD card. When I then navigate back to the main menu, my recently read books are visible and I can search the Library (which I like cannot do without the work-around via Storage).

Obviously, I would like if the SD card was preped and mounted automatically, even if it entails a longer start-up time. If anybody could contribute to a solution I'd be very appreciative. Thanks.

While the SD is mounting you should see a small icon on the status bar to the right of the wifi icon. Tapping on that will cause the last read document to open or the last read items to appear. Seems a little bit haphazard on mine but that may be because I don't bother to remember how it was when I closed it down.

Waiting for the SD card to get ready is infuriating and it is made even worse by the fact that the maximum sleep is 1 hour so you have this problem every time you go to read.

Thanks – your way is marginally quicker than what I had been doing. It really is quite frustrating whatever the approach!

I updated yesterday, the only difference I see is that I've lost root

Anything you'd like me to check?

EDIT:Root restored with Cydia Impactor.
