Hello. I was wondering if someone could help me?

I have been given a kobo N905B with a internal sd slot. Now the issue is that there is NO SD Card. So hoping I could get help on how to put a image on a new sd card with the right partion ect.

So how to install the firmware on a new card without a backup

Hi, my Kobo touch has a software issue and I was wondering if putting an new image on the SD card would resolve it. The bottom half of the screen is just grey. I have spoken to customer support and they have told me (twice) that it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue. I have factory reset it a few times, but the issue still remains.

I would like to try putting on a new image before considering hardware replacements. It's a Kobo Touch N905C.

It might work, but, if the factory reset isn't changing anything, I doubt it. It sounds more like a hardware problem; a broken substrate or something. I would suggest posting a photo so we can see.

Thanks davidfor,

I have attached two photos. Half the screen is working fine, while the lower half is displaying only grey "fuzz". What is interesting is that while the lower half of the screen is not displaying correctly, it is reacting perfectly to my touch gestures. The bottom half of the screen does change slightly as the different pages are displayed.
As I mentioned, I contacted Kobo support first. They told me it was a software problem, and that is how I arrived to at this thread, so sorry if it isn't now isn't directly relevant. I will try putting the image on the SD card.

I really appreciate your help.

I am sure that those pictures show a hardware problem. They aren't typical for a damaged substrate, but the crack could be right at an edge. It could be the graphics controller, which wouldn't be fixable. I'd check the cable connection or try the image, but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

I think it's time for a new device. Any of the current Kobo devices is a vast improvement over the Touch.

PM sent. But, I have no idea what you mean by "without registering". If you are talking about registering the device, the image was taken after someone did a factory reset. When you restore it and start the device, you will be prompted to do the setup. This requires a Kobo user but you can cheat on this. Search the forum to find out how.
