Hello there. I have a Kobo touch (N905C) that is barely used, since it only works for a couple of minutes before freezing, no matter which firmware I use. Do you guys think that maybe my internal micro sd is damaged and changing it could make a difference? Can I also ask for the sd-card virgin image? Thanks in advance

That's a possibility, so I have sent a PM with the link. But, have you done a factory reset? That will reformat the partitions and build a new database. That can fix a lot of problems.

Additionally have you tried different ebooks? Any possibility that the book you are reading might be faulty?

Thank you all for the replies. I believe the problem really is the sd card, as I've reset this thing more times than I can remember, and the same thing happened over and over again, it kept freezing after a few minutes. Today I managed to install android on it using a different sdcard, since I still didnt have a factory image to try on it, and the Touch is flying, didnt freeze once.

I've been reading through this thread but I'm still unsure on how to do the serial number procedure. If somebody can give me directions to it I woud be really greatful.

I'm running into an unexpected problem right now. I have managed to make a backup of my original sdcard in order to have a look at the serial number. After doing that, I have altered the bits in hex 0x200 on the factory image david sent me, and saved the file. But now, when I try to write the image to a different sdcard, Win32 Disk Imager says that there is not enough space (even though the microsd card is formatted and without a single file on it).

I have faced the same problem when I was trying to write the android image on a 2GB sd card. Is there anything I should be doing with the card before using Win32 Disk Imager?

Fixed it! Looks like the difference between the image size and sdcard was really small. I've used Usbit (usb image tool). In this software you can select the option to truncate oversized images. This will write the partitions to the new card and hopefully fail while writing the blank at the end of the card leaving you with a usable card. And thats what hapenned to me.

Ok, no luck. Kobo Touch starts after writing the truncated image to the sd card, but something went wrong. After starting it, it asked for an update and after the update I got a critical error screen, what made me do a reset just to get the same results. Tried flashing the android image to another card (also truncated), and it wont go past the boot screen... looks like my only chance is using my 32gb sd card with this thing, what I really didnt want to do as I think it's a waste. Will buy a 4gb sdcard and see how it goes.

Hey All,
I have a Touch N905B that after update failure and factory reset is now in a never ending restoring to factory settings loop. Have read on the forum of people imaging their sd cards, I use Windows is it possible to replace the image with a Windows machine since the Kobo is Linux?
