Got to ask JimmXinu a question before I make my next suggestion to try. JimmXinu, I understand that the personal.ini settings for the plugin version of FFF are stored within the Calibre library database. If I delete the FFF plugin from a Calibre installation, are all the FFF settings data left in the library database (and thus going to affect a reinstallation of the plugin), or are they removed along with the plugin? If I export the contents of my library and import them to a new library, do the old FFF settings from the prior library database go along with the export/import of files to the new library? The reason I am asking is that I'm trying to figure out a way to create a new library that I can ensure doesn't inherit any of the FFF personal.ini settings from an existing library for troubleshooting purposes. I have a test installation on a Windows virtual machine that is randomly failing exactly like Philosophize is describing when using the browser cache in Firefox. I managed to get it working today, but nothing I did should have caused it to start working so I'm wondering if there might be some kind of corruption in the part of the Calibre library containing the FFF settings. The next time it fails, I'll run the cache log version of FFF you provided and save the log along with the zipped cache folder and personal.ini settings file to check over. I uninstalled FFF once while trying to identify a misbehaving plugin. My settings were intact when I reinstalled it.
If you absolutely want to clear your preferences, you'll want to go to FanFicFare Config > Other > View Library Preferences and then use the Clear button there. I believe this'll only apply to the current library. If you use "copy structure from existing library" while setting up a new library it copies over the preferences. Yes, settings are kept in the library database. For convenience' sake, the first time you invoke FFF in a new library, your settings from the previously selected library are copied.
But, as ownedbycats pointed out, you can always wipe all FFF settings for a library. |

Just curious, what would happen if you created a new clean library when the "custom columns" tab references columns that don't exist? Does it just automatically null those out?

They won't work (obviously) and won't display in config. Will be reset when you change it.
If you really want to know, try it and see. |

It worked immediately on my malfunctioning virtual machine installation (i.e. it was nonfunctional no matter what I did, I tried this, and it became immediately functional), but you are on a different OS so YMMV. However, this installation was doing exactly what yours is (i.e. throwing the exact same cache error even though the file(s) it was looking for were visually verified by me to be in the Firefox browser cache and less than a couple minutes old before running FFF), so it is probably worth the effort of trying. I'd restart your machine before beginning. Go in to the FanFicFare configuration, edit personal.ini, and copy/paste the entire contents of personal.ini into a text file so you won't loose them. Then, in the FanFicFare configuration, go all the way over to the right to the "Other" menu. At the bottom of the Other menu, there is an option labeled "View Library Preferences". Click on it. At the bottom of the window that comes up, there are two options, a 'Clear' button and a 'Ok' button. Hit the clear button, answer "yes" when asked if you are sure, and and then hit the ok button. This will reset the FFF options in Personal.ini and within the Calibre library database to their defaults. It should then prompt you to restart Calibre, which you should do. Once Calibre restarts, go back in to edit personal.ini. To start with, I would only type (not copy and paste) the following into personal.ini: under [defaults] browser_cache_path:(re-enter your browser cache path here) under [overrides] [www.fanfiction.net] use_browser_cache:true browser_cache_age_limit:4.0 use_browser_cache_only:true The last line above is just for testing only (you can remove it later if you want). Save personal.ini. Shut down Calibre, then reopen it. Clear the browser cache in Firefox. Close Firefox, then reopen it. Then, try to page through a fic (preferably a new one first) to get the pages in the browser cache. Close Firefox (per JimmXinu's prior suggestion several posts back regarding file locking issues with the browser cache folder) and then try to run FFF. If that works, you can try to update a fic as well using the same process. Once everything is working, you can begin to restore any other personalized prior settings to match the saved personal.ini text file (again, I'd retype them and not copy/paste). If doing this process doesn't work for you, I am completely and utterly out of ideas. However, as before stated, my nonfunctional installation became immediately functional after I did this process. Now, whether it will stay functional long-term, I guess we'll have to just wait and see.... Last edited by steltek; 07-07-2021 at 03:40 AM. |

I have tons of authors favorited in my literotica profile. How do I go about downloading all their stories in one go with FFF?

I'm not comfortable offering much more help than that for downloading paid content. I would probably not accept contributed code for downloading paid content at this point. Quote:

FFF gives me SSL error whenever I'm using a proxy connection. Any workaround to this?

Question: Should 'Update ePub Cover' re-generate a cover created with GC?
I have my GC profile set to show {#fanficstatus}. I noticed a fic had completed and ticked the "Update ePub Cover" in the download dialog to update it. But the cover didn't change and still showed In-Progress. Relevant settings in screenshot. Note that I use generate_cover_settings in personal.ini instead of the dropdown dialogs in the config. |
