Well, I just came back from a long walk in the park and lived this wonderfully strange musical adventure I really need to share, and what other place better than this!

I first got out because I had this humongous headache I wanted to chase away, and once out, discovered a beautiful, sunny day. To put some perk in my steps, I decided to listen to some great Ukrainian punk (then again, thank you Moejoe) and put on, with others, this particular song:

It's appealing lyrics and overtaking rhythm propelled me into one of my greatest fantasies (don't laugh): to be (lets say live with) a big hairy Russian man, to live the incredible passions and profound depressions of this cliché I have in mind, throwing vodka glasses in fireplaces and getting drunk out of my mind for political reasons.

As I strolled down the path, I was laughing at playful SHUMs and enthusiastic doggies (or is it enthusiastic SHUMs and playful doggies), letting myself be fascinated by the ever changing reflections of light in tree leaves, retaining myself to dance and sing along with the music, when that song started:

Nothing more hallucinogenic than Jefferson's Airplane! Suddenly, it wasn't me walking around trees, it was them dancing in front of my eyes, celebrating the explosion of spring, stretching their branches as high as they could. Not wanting to openly hug the dear trees, I began highfiving every maple leaf close enough to be gently slapped without to many people noticing. Mindlessly smiling at passerbys, I started floating back home, as this usually horrifying song started:

I found myself inwardly howling with the chorus, not without one glimpse of lucidity: what the heck is that song doing on my MP3 player? I did, anyway, listen to it all, enjoying particularly the poem at the end (first time I heard it, for what I know, and sadly it's not on this video, but I swear it exists). Then one last song, to bring me back safely home:

Last time I heard that one, I was to high to be mentioned, and it was four years ago, right before I stopped everything illicit. I never could listen to it when not in an unmentionable state of mind, but today, I loved it.

So here it is. What do you think, too many Zany Carters or a really poor choice of music in my MP3 player?

P.S.: Just to be on the safe side, don't take this post too seriously!

Another music-related freak out...
I was happily translating "Les aventure de Harv et Véra au Panama", listening to some good lyric-less electronica (only way to be able to concentrate is to avoid lyrics) with my headphones on (to avoid scaring my neighbors), when, in between tunes, I heard a loud bang, followed by some loud angry sounding voices and a few more bangs. I panicked.

The CD I was listening is Amon Tobin's Supermodified, it's got a great groove but with an extremely harrowing feel. I love it, I listened to it a thousand times in the last years, but today, with the freaky noises...I'm still shivering! Listen to it, you'll understand:

Yeah, watching the video's definetely not helping me right now.

Apparently, my landlords rented the one room apartment that they just built in the deceased laundry room, and someone is moving into it right now, at almost 10 PM. I'm terrified and somewhat annoyed by it, but mostly, I can't wait for the new occupant to go to bed! There is no way I'll see that person without being scared now...Good thing I'm moving out soon!

OK, now THAT was freaky! (I did like the praying mantis - I think that's what it was - , though) I should have just listened to the music instead of watching the video. Now, I'll keep seeing body parts... Thanks for sharing (I think) :runningofftofindanicevideoofflowers, cats, colors,

oooh, nice happy place! Wish I saw that before going to bed yesterday!

If you liked the other song, you might like that too (same album)

And maybe this (Aphex Twin, a mad man - don't go of wandering trying to find any of his videos without bracing yourself first, I'm serious, this looks all nice, but some things he does can creep you out!)

Boards of Canada rule to the Nth degree, best ambient/electronica band I've ever heard (and I'm counting early Brian Eno in that)

Here's my favourite BoC song:

Just looked up Pole, so far I'm liking it ver much You've probably already heard Cornelius, if you're into ambient/electronica, but here he is again with Music from his recent Sensuous album (also he's married to Takako Minekawa, the brilliant electro-quirky songwriter)
