I'm listening to a car horning in the streets...
Other than that I'm enjoying utter silence for now!

Ow,youtubers...
My favorite song is Havona from Jacko Pastorius, however I don't find anyone that can play like Jacko did (on the bass)!
This guy basically got it right!
For those who don't know much about music, this is freakkin difficult.
Even pro's playing for years and years struggle with this style of percussive and rhythmic playing that's usually only reserved for piano players.

Fact found a song of Jacko browsing... but the recording is pretty lousy...

Started them off on light chamber music (can't go wrong with Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and so on), past the Beethovens and Faurés and Schuberts and Dvořáks, through to the Russian nationalists and modernists, and then I don't really have a plan. Frankly, I am amazed they have accepted this for the past two Fridays.

I've drawn a rough arc from baroque to classical to romantics, perhaps explore the more obscure composers of each era. But you have to stamp in the basics first

Also, I am letting the inimitable wikipedia guide me here, massive resource with composers of each era many of which are totally unknown to me

Koyaanisqatsi .... which was a perfect backround to today's main chore, which was to drill 372 1/4 inch by 3/8 inch deep holes in 3/4 inch maple for the sides of my adjustable bookshelves. Since I don't have a drill press, I made due with a homemade jig.
