Country music makes my skin crawl. But sometimes you just can't ignore talent and this guy had it.

Quick, must find antidote for twang, steel guitars, etc.

Listening to Augie March's brand new album, Watch Me Disappear, signed CD received just this morning.

Queen Zee is going to be so jealous:

O the bomb dreamed the fuse and the drowner dreamed the sea",
What a strange feeling...
Yes, it?s a strange feeling
And it only happens now and then -
Out of the mouth of a black dog,
Out of the terrors of 3 am,
Out of the dark and whispering fen,
I was blind then I could see, now I'm blind again.

(Augie March, Pennywhistle)

Cheers,
Marc ("...O what beast has my name on its snaggle tooth,
And eternal slobber for my finishing youth?"
)

I'm not sure I've caught all the lyrics, but I think that's brilliant! O the bomb dreamed the fuse and the drowner dreamed the sea is a particularly great line.

You might also like One Crowded Hour, which I am listening to at the moment (a version with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra). Here's the original video (it's a link, because embedding is disabled on it):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV_WMkzjLK8

The lyrics are as follows:

Now should you expect to see something that you hadn't seen in
somebody you've known since you were sixteen,
If love is a bolt from the blue then what is a bolt but a glorified screw,
And that doesn't hold nothing together.

Far from these nonsense bars and their nowhere music, it's making me sick and I know it's making you sick, there's nothing there it's like eating air, it's like drinking gin with nothing else in and that doesn't hold me together...

And for one crowded hour you were the only one in the room,
I sailed around all those bumps in the night to your beacon in the gloom,
I thought I had found my golden September in the middle of that purple june,
But one crowded hour would lead to my wreck and ruin.

Now I know you like your boys who take their medicine from the bowl of a silver spoon, who run away with the dish and scale the fish by the silvery light of the moon,
Who were taught from the womb to believe till the tomb that as far as
their bleeding eyes see is a pleasure pen meant for them, builded and rent for them, not for the likes of me, no not for the likes of you and me...

[Chorus]

O but the green-eyed harpy of the salt land,
She takes into hers my hand,
And she says "Boy, I know you're lying... O but then so am I!"
And to this I said
"O well."

Well put me in a cage full of lions, I'll learn to speak lion,
In fact I know the language well, I picked it up while I was versing myself in the languages they speak in hell,
That night that silence gave birth to a baby, but they took it away to
her silent dismay and they raised it to be a lady...

Now she can't keep her mouth shut...

[Chorus]

And for one crowded hour you were the only one in the room,
I played a few songs for those bumps in the night, in fact I played this very tune,
But you said "What is this six stringed instrument but an
adolescent loom?"
And one crowded hour would lead to my wreck and ruin.

Cheers,
Marc

Thats pretty good music actually. Thanks for the links, need to see if I can buy the album here in Sweden.

update Well, I can't get the newest album here, but it seems like some of the older ones are available as imports at horrendous prices. *sigh* And the music industry wonders why people pirates music?

I was listening to My Bloody Valentine's "Isn't Anything?".
Now, after reading your posts, I'm on YouTube looking for all I can find from Augie March whom I did not know. Thanks for sharing

Aye, isn't that the way. Here's their discography:

http://www.augiemarch.com/releases/h...697098152&bc=1

If you buy "Moo, You Bloody Choir", buy the limited edition if you can - it's worth it for the West Australian Symphony Orchestra live disc (which contains songs from previous albums). Have you tried Amazon USA or anywhere else?

Cheers,
Marc

No worries. To be honest, they've been around for a while and, while I've always loved their One Crowded Hour, I've only recently looked beyond that (it was actually Queen Zee who encouraged me to do so, since she did it herself first).

Cheers,
Marc

Nope, haven't checked there. Just did a quick check at the largest webshop here in good ole sweden, and they had three titles.

Moo You Bloody Choir [Import]
Strange Bird [Import]
Sunset Studies [Import]

All at $50 a piece... silly wabbits!
