 I like the earlier Clancy novels but IMO his later ones are weak. Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter is one of the all time best, with Black Light and Time to Hunt close behind. Add in Dirty White Boys as second in the order and one has a 4 book series that ties together. | |

			Never mind whether you spelled it right, your judgement is clearly rock solid at least IMHO. And I do agree with TM; Clancy's earlier books were unquestionably his best. |

			Red Storm Rising was definitely one of his best. I can remember reading it back in the day when it seemed so plausible.  Wasn't much of the action gamed using Larry Bond's Harpoon?

			Agreed. Larry Bond is worth looking out for. He co-wrote Red Storm Rising, and has written novels himself. Red Phoenix was his first, I think, and very good. I've read a few others, but can't remember the titles now.

			thanks for the larry bond recommendation -- i'm pretty sure that Red Phoenix is available via amazon prime so i will give it a go.
