Thanks Ben,

With this modification does work (I had already tried). I've discovered the problem I have: I can only have eight applications in the menú of "games and utilities" (PRS+ 1.1.3). Now I have five games, dictionary, calculator and book history. To put the chess, I will remove any other application or game.

Why is this happening? how I can fix it?

I assume we are testing addons against max size for JS-files.
Kravitz came up with some sort of addons2 in beta-test-pack#4 (bp4.zip) if I remember correct.

Second: I see again some distortions in the black-fields.
Solved it for me by moving the black-square to start at x=80 (see attached "chessBoard.png")
and changed this code in chess.xml
Quote:
<texture href="skins/chessBoard.png">
<cutout id="white" x="0" y="0" width="75" height="75"/>
<cutout id="black" x="80" y="0" width="75" height="75"/>
</texture>
No problems with the pieces so far.

Third: I would recommend to use a "square" grid-marker (like the selection sprite) with 300/505 instead of the "pointing hand"-cursor. As there is to much ghosting left while moving the cursor around.

Fourth: To minimize moving the grid-cursor digit-keys 1-8 should move the selection to the appropreate row/column.

Last but not least: Many Thanks Ben, for another great game!!

PS: will try to check on Timer if I can find some free time
PPS: After changing any code in readers IM I strongly suggest to restart the device prior restarting the Addon,

Hi all,

I have incorporated Mark's suggestions. The zip file in post #118 has been updated.

Enjoy!

Ben.

works well in PRS-505 (PRS+ 1.1.3) with minor changes:

Remove:

kbook.autoRunRoot.sandbox.getSoValue = Core.system.getSoValue;
kbook.autoRunRoot.sandbox.hasNumericButtons = Core.config.compat.hasNumericButtons;

and replace with:

kbook.autoRunRoot.hasNumericButtons = true;

Thanks Ben

Hi all,

I have attempted an implementation of AI in the Chess game. The zip file in post #118 has been updated. More info in that post.

Sincerely,
Ben.

PS. Sorry for removing the zip file for a couple of hours. I made some alterations, and the result is quite a bit better. You can now change the AI speed, and the checkmates/stalemates should now be correctly recognised.

Hi all,

Slight update to the Chess game: the zip file in post #118 has been updated. Checkmate and stalemate are now recognised no matter who moved last (human or AI), although the AI may still move offensively into check! I've also changed the default AI speed to "Medium". "Slow" is just too slow, and "Fast" is just too stupid. Fortunately, "Medium" seems clever enough without taking too long!

Hope you enjoy it! I am not anticipating any further changes, but if you discover an issue, let me know.

Sincerely,
Ben.

Seems I was using the latest version, except the Calc.

"Five in a row" - works in general, exit menu is tiny and doesn't always react (?)
Mahjong - works.
Chess (I wouldn't call it chess, it's rather chess board) - works
Sudoku - renders, menu is working, everything else is not.

What do you mean, "you wouldn't call it chess"? If you press "SIZE" the reader makes a move. I haven't beaten it yet on "Medium" setting, let alone on "Slow"!

I avoided any automatic move system, since I couldn't get timers to work. If I had set it up to move automatically without a timer, you wouldn't see your move until the AI move completes, so the two moves would appear at about the same time (after a long pause, where you would be thinking "Did my move work?")

By the way, I have all of them (except Sudoku) working on my 600, using a customised PRS+.

Regarding Chess: Have you noticed that (+) Size forces an AI move?

Sudoku: Sorry I have still no touch-device (PRS-650S is back-orderd) to test. It's operational in the Sim-Enviro. And I remember that an earlier version was reported working here with the PRS-600 except Quit-Game?
@Ben: may you have a look on Sudoku at your PRS-600 please?

No reports yet for: Fiveballs and Freecell

When I tried Sudoku, I couldn't get the menus to work. They would open, but none of the entries were clickable.

So the end result was I had to reset my 600 since there was no way to quit the game.

Basically, bulk import converted/new games/utils didn't quite work. I'll skip this for alpha release for x50-s, hopefully will have time to iron out the issues by beta.

Would be nice to get unified way out of all of them. In some it's doable by pressing home/menu, some force you through the menu, which is sometimes tiny / laggy.

Oh, didn't know that.

Ah, I guess what you need is not timers, but ability to update the screen before javascript call is completed. Well, here you go:

FskUI.Window.update.call(kbook.model.container.get Window());
