Hi, can you use titleSorter if available when sorting books by title? It's quite useful for CJK language.

FYW, chinese and other CJK fonts is too big, so what most people do is putting fonts into somewhere in IM and mounting the FONT directory to that directory. With this hack, fonts can be changed easily without reflashing. All it needs is a chance to run customized shell script after booting the device. People also remount the resources directory to allow easy customizing of the interface.

Another feature request: could you remember the last browsed path to make it easy to navigate a large folder tree? It is also helpful if we can customized the root folder of SD/MS card like the IM.

hmm, not sure what's going on here, got a problem again.

All was going swimmingly, until I tried to move some more files to my storage card.
My usual method is to connect my device, copy pre converted files (epub) to my device, unplug to let it cache, then start up calibre to sort out tagging on the actual device.

I moved around 40MB of content to my card as per usual, and unplugged to let the device cache, had a quick check and I could navigate to the new folder, but couldn't see any files.

I reconnected and deleted the cache file on the card, then unplugged and let the device rebuild. still no luck. Would I need to delete the cache on both the card and the device and lose my bookmarks? which I'm prepared to do to get these files recognised.

Or am I missing something?, thanks in advance

PRS+ should show folder content regardless of the cache content. It displays all files with known (book) extensions.

Are those books visible using "books by " menus?

thawk
What is "title sorter"? Other features you've mentioned are already in FR (except remembering last folder used)

First a big thanks to msukhiashvili, sergmoj, Mikes.Prs505, i.dachev for there work on this wonderful hack. I just received a PRS-505 today in replacement of a PRS-500 that had died at Sony's update center. This has given me just about all of my old hacks i had on the PRS-500 back.

The only 2 missing were the custom icons and track change for music while reading a book. luckily with a little work i got the track change back and i know several people have asked for it.

So below is a the KeyBindings.js file i edited that allows you to set what ever keys you want to track change. I've only tested this with the side page keys doing single and hold press and it works. this a "AS IS" file and i am not responsible for any problem you might have, i provide this for others to look at and maybe for the real coders to test and add in a later release.

to install just replace the KeyBindings.js file in the database\system\PRSPlus\addons folder in the main system memory. though be sure to back up the original first just in case you run into problems or want to revert back to the original.

File Type: zip KeyBindings.zip (3.5 KB, 164 views)

Well they're completely acessible when placed within the internal memory, but when I moved to my card they are not seen. Its most odd.

My card is a Sandisk Memory Stick PRO Duo 8GB. Mostly used for cbr files which are read fine.

I guess I've said it some time ago, but just to remind everyone:

Sony software is accessing SD / Internal Memory in different ways. SD card access goes through some mtools type utility, which is bugged. Known bugs so far are:

1) Non-latin folders/files could cause parts of the card to become invisible to the reader
2) A lot of latin files/folders (16k was reported) could also lead to the same problem.

But neither is your case, it seems. There are other possible reasons:

1) corrupt file system (check disk should fix the problem)
2) defects in sd/ms cards

I'd suspect 1) is your case.

titleSorter is a field in cache.xml. If a book has this field, 505 will sort on this field instead of the title field. Using this field, the CJK character can be sorted correctly.

For example:
Code:
<text author="林建" page="0" pageOffset="0" part="0" scale="0" status="0" sourceid="15" id="16" date="Fri, 04 Jul 2008 15:40:15 GMT" mime="application/x-sony-bbeb" path="Sony Reader/books/传记纪实/大交易场:美国证券市场风云实录.lrf" size="1213012" title="大交易场:美国证券市场风云实录" titleSorter="da jiao yi chang :mei guo zheng quan shi chang feng yun shi lu ">
I simply modified the _BrowseFolders.js, replacing the compareString() in sortByTitle/sortByAuthor function using the following compareTitle function, it works:

Code:
var compareTitle = function(a, b) {
    var atitle = a.media.titleSorter ? a.media.titleSorter : a.media.title;
    var btitle = b.media.titleSorter ? b.media.titleSorter : b.media.title;

    return compareStrings(atitle, btitle);
};
In sortByTitle:
Code:
         //return compareStrings(a.name, b.name);
         return compareTitle(a, b);
In sortByAuthor:
Code:
             //return compareStrings(a.media.title, b.media.title);
             return compareTitle(a, b);
BTW, I discovered the "titleSorter" field in the prs505xml script (http://prs505media.sourceforge.net/). The author used this field to sort Russian book titles, and it also works on CJK.

I was looking for "where the hell "reading" field is" (there is a reading field in LRS format, made exactly for this purpose) and couldn't find it.... I guess "titleSorter" is the one.

I'll add this as a configurable option.

Well a check disk didn't fix anything, even with a bad sectors sweep too.

So I formatted the card and moved all content back on again and bingo that worked a treat. No idea what caused it though. Perhaps a sign of a failing memory card.

Thanks again buddy.

"Localization ready" PRS+ Installer is "almost there" (PRS+ itself will support non-US locale from version 1.1). It can install/update PRS+ (also from non US locales) as well as backup Rootfs, Rootfs2, BootImg, Fsk partitions.

Translations to other languages are wanted (German, Spanish in particular). Check the attached English version and thank you in advance.

PS
Corrections to the English version are also welcome...

PPS
Alpha version of the installer to play with:
http://prs-plus.googlecode.com/files...r_1.0alpha.zip

Just unzip the file to your SD/MS card. (internal memory should also work, however I haven't tested it) Card scanning option should be enabled, unless you are starting it from internal memory.

Before doing anything, installer first asks for confirmation. So you can fearlessly take a peek at "expert" options.

What files must be translated into Spanish for the localization?
