You can write multi-line events (the calendar has six lines) but in the event editor you do not see the letters written after the first line. Then do appear in the calendar. |

Until then, if you want to add or edit multi-line event descriptions, you can edit the calendar.dat file when your reader is connected to a PC. Sincerely, Ben. P.S. Actually, I was just thinking about the save file. Each event is separated using "\r\n" (CR LF) characters. So I am guessing you are using just the "\n" character on its own to separate the lines of a multi-line description. Is that right? Last edited by BenChen; 08-15-2011 at 01:40 PM. It's the same editing calendar.dat that using the event editor, but with the editor I write without seeing the typed letters. Thanks |

Hi Mark,
I have a minor update to the calendar app. I moved the second line of icons onto the first line, and added three new icons (work, school and meeting). Will it mess you up if I push the changes to the repository? Sincerely, Ben. |

Guys, tab should be used for indentation (I see spaces from time to time).
Chess uses gazillion of puzzle files, please use more effective format, check how it is done in sudoku for instance, one line per puzzle would work nicely. Calendar sprites would use much less memory, if all squares were on the same line. Minesweeper sprites could be improved as well. Other than that, good job! |

The reason Chess uses many puzzle files is that each puzzle file is a saved game which is then loaded, using the same loading code. I guess it could be re-programmed, but I am unwilling to do it at the moment: real life and all that! I have already fixed the Calendar sprites onto one line and the results pushed to the apps repository. Marc (I think) is intending to do some more work on the Calendar app so that other keyboards can be used, so perhaps after he is done the final version can be pushed to the main repository. Sincerely, Ben. |

Hi kartu,
I have been thinking about re-working the way the Chess puzzles are handled and I will give it a go when I have some time. Sincerely, Ben. |

Hi kartu,
Chess puzzles have been fixed. There are now only three files. Changes pushed to apps and default repositories. Sincerely, Ben. |

Games node on the 600/x50
Hi kartu,
I was just wondering whether it was worth adding a Games node to the 600 / x50 PRS+. There have been quite a few comments from people asking that the games not be installed. I know that you, kartu, have told them to simply ignore the games. I have been thinking that a compromise might be possible: if we put all the games into a custom node, then at least they are not seeing all these games on their "More" pages. It makes it easier to ignore the games. I have been using a Games node on my custom build for a while now, and since Mark's recent changes to the MenuCustomiser (Revision: 120b70d3e901), the games node has been accessible and everything has been working fine. There is one small difference, though, between my custom games node and the one already used on the 505/300 and that is I have just included games in mine. I have left the Calculator and Calendar on the "More" page. And I've also changed core_ui_menu.js so that custom nodes can also have a shortName and a comment field. Is that worth doing, too? What do you think? Sincerely, Ben. |

Ben,
does that mean that people would need to go reconfigure something in menu customizer to see the games? |

No, they don't have to do anything to see the games. The games node would appear on the "More" page. It's just that after Mark's changes, the Games node can be assigned to the home page. Sincerely, Ben. |

Ben,
ok, got it. What about those that would complain that they have to do additional cklick to get to some game? ![]() |

Well, with ten games, they don't all fit on the first "More" page, so there will almost certainly be multiple clicks to get to some of the games anyway!
