Kartu,

While I hope you develop the translation into Spanish, I have translated the PRS+ v1.0RC to Spanish (and Catalan) and combined with the localization of the previous hacks. Now I have all the firmware with the PRS+ in Spanish. This tested and works perfectly. Here I put links to files and a guide to install the PRS+ in Spanish.

This project is getting so awesome. I'm so amazed how many people jump in and help making the project better every day.

Excuse me for not being really informative with this post, but I'm just so amazed about the dynamics of a group of people not knowing each other and still pulling something like this off. This is the way I would love my job to be.

I would suggest in the page index, a counter with so many pages readed in the day (or after reseting the counter with pressing enter for 3 seconds). It is like this mod: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36166
I have been using it for a year before install prs+ and it is one of the most useful mod I have seen, even it calculates who much time do you need to finish the current book, based in your pages per minute index....

As to features that people would like to add in vote, I would think most people would like the "dictionary feature" on the 505 compared to feature that marks whether the reader "read" the book or not.

But that is not true , according to voting MOST people want a check mark to remind them they read a book and are NOT as interested in having a "context" dictionary that could tell them meaning of word in current book they are reading.
Either that poll is being stuffed by someone or I'm reading the community sense wrong. In most of the regular ebook threads, people like the dictionary feature and I don't ever hear people talking about feature to let them know they read a book on their reader, yet, that feature in poll has more votes than a dictionary feature.
I think if the dictionary feature was made , it would make much bigger news in the 505 forums than a feature that let's people check they read a book on reader.

I would think a poll conducted by karta on this site with "features to add to the 505" ... this poll could be more "honest" and also in poll settings have our names listed as to which feature we voted for. This way it is an open poll and nobody can stuff the box, since on the other site, since no log in is necessary people with different computers could vote mulitple times and voting tampering.
No way the people on this site would pick feature to tell them they read a book on their ereader to a "CONTEXT" Dictionary that would tell them meaning of word in book they are reading.
I think kartu should make the poll since he is the person that has made this fine program for the 505.

Guys, regarding the poll, it's meant mainly to see which features are wanted much more than others, not necessarily which one is on which place. It's a rough estimation.

richman, don't forget that there are people, who have no use for dictionary.

I was watching how the poll was going on, and while there were, erm, anomalies, in general it was close to what it is from the beginning. If anything, localization feature is underrated because many non-English speakers actually didn't participate in the poll.

Something like:

x/y (q) , z, w

where:
x = current page
y = total pages
q = % readed
z = pages read in this session (pressing enter for 3 seconds reset the counter; pages less than 10 secs or more than 10 min does not count, i.e.)
w = total minutes to finish the book (based on curren average pages per minute)

specially I found z very usefull

According to the poll discussion and what feature to put next, I would want to state the following, and it's not meant as offense but more something like "...ok, let's think about this for a moment...":

The project started as "File Explorer" for the 505 because Kartu seemed to find this feature missing. There were maybe some other hacks he found useful, so he did implement those. He started the project on googlecode on his own (I guess more or less) and published his findings/developments/etc. here in the forum, which I find great as it makes my reader much better. Then other people jumped in helping with coding and documentation, without specifically pushing any features, just being happy that something gets done and the reader improves.
So why do we have a discussion where the poll should be, what features should show up in the poll, how the results have to be read....

I think, if I wanted specific features the 505 doesn't have and it was around for some years, why not just be happy about any improvement. If I really wanted some specific features (e.g. touch, I chose this because this cannot be implemented in code), I would buy a different reader that has those features.
Just because other readers offer a feature the 505 doesn't have doesn't mean that everybody wants/needs that feature. I can do without a dictionary (stop, don't say I knew he'll write that), I can also do without games or key bindings. Now that the key bindings are there, I find it great, but I also could have lived without.

Conclusion: If the project page would be run by me, I would withdraw the poll and just have a request page. This way I could just do what's doable or what I have the time for. In the end it's still someone putting his spare time in to make the reader to his own likes.

Excuse me for writing so much and really don't be offended. I just find this project so great and it makes me sad that there's so much pushing. Lay back, enjoy a book and the extra features other readers may not have because hacking them would be too difficult. And enjoy any other feature to come.
What if development just stops here?

It is so interesting the way we all read stuff and how we can have different ways of seeing the same thing.

My intention wasn't meant to piss people off about the "dictionary" feature and I'm sorry if I did, I was interested to see how the people in this site would VOTE on which feature that they would like to see on the 505 if they had a choice.

I am fine with any of the great features on the prs and if the dictionary feature never gets made I'm fine with it. Others in the forums seemed to think that that feature not being on the 505 caused them to buy a kindle or one of the other models, so I thought that that would have been a feature that more people on this site would have voted for.
