To shorten the waiting for 2.1 there's 2.0.18 as new featured download since last night...

I could not find a changelog until now...

PRS+ development was split around end year 2011.

2.0.18 is the "stable" build, with no new features over 2.0.17RC3

To quote kartu:

I'm about to release 2.0.18 "LeChuck" ('cause it's quite a bit ugly :*))
Unstable games, messy settings tree, big room for performance improvements. =/

2.1.x is still in active development, you can read about the new/changed features in the WIKI here

2.1.x will come with

• the ability to change epubStyles on the fly
• custom settings for Standby and Shutdown-Timer
• Margin-Cut for 505
• some additional binaries allowing to process archives and - most awaited - will allow the integration of custom dictionaries. (not included yet!)
• many more...

For "Power-User" I think it is worth trying the 2.1.x nigtly builds, kindly provided by Analogus. Here

Thank you for the update.

One question to all: I've customized the homescreen: Slot 3 Sudoku, 4 History, 5 Collections

Works fine, but not with the right icons. Sudoko e.g. is shown with a "folder"-icon. Is there a way to correct this?

I could answer your question:

Icons missing on the home-page of the reader aren't included yet. For the PRS350 I provide a 'Special Edition' with more of the missing icons. But it's just for the PRS350 because that's my reader. And without games... No testing and therefor no special edition for the 650 possible. So I think you have to wait.

To correct this now you would have to make your own custom build. And of course alter some files:

1) At least one of the PNG-files to add more icons
2) The 650_config.js file to assign the icons to the right application

OK, thank you @Analogus. Now it becomes clear. Maybe I will give it a try with a custom build. There's no urgend need for the correct icons, 'cause the applications are working fine even with the "wrong" icons. It's only a need of "look & feel".

Hi ThR,

There are no plans to add larger icons for the games. So the only way you can get a proper Sudoku icon on the home page will be with a custom build.

Here's what you would do to add a home page icon on the 650. Once you download the source using Mercurial, look in

..\firmware\650\resources\scripts\home

and edit the file kBookDeviceHome.png

You will need to add the extra icons to the right of the existing ones (or you could just replace one of the existing icons of an app that you don't use). Then look in

..\script\core\compat

and edit the config file 650_config.js

Look down the list of icons, looking for the name of the icon you are adding (in your case SUDOKU), and then add

HOME_SUDOKU: 8,

under the other "HOME_" icons if you added an icon (or replace the existing entry, making sure to call it HOME_SUDOKU, but use the number of the replaced item).

Then make your custom build and install it on your reader.

I'm trying to install PRS+ 2.0.18 on my PRS-650, which currently has the latest Sony stock firmware installed.
When I run the setup.exe (Windows 7), all I get is "Copying files. This might take a few minuts. Error" when I try to flash the reader.
I have not installed PRS+ before and I'm unsure of what to do next.

User-rights shouldn't be the problem with Setup.exe under Win 7,

maybe a missing Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package

2) Remove other USB-hardware (stick, camera, ...) and try once more
3) Reboot your PC and try once more
4) Try another PC
5) Format your reader and try one more

At least I would try above methods. Maybe the USB-port where your reader is connected is not recognized from the software.

PRS-300 stuck on Opening book after install 2.0.18.
Hard/soft reset don`t help.Still stuck on Opening book

2.0.18 CALCULATOR on PRS-950 does not exit.

I tried pressing the home (and all other) button, short and long, but no exit.

The "about" text states this still 2.0.14beta - is that expected, or does it indicate a failure to install the update? I did power down after extracting the "update" folder to the internal disk. If the install failed, then this is a problem with 2.0.14beta ;-)

Never mind: there is now a calculator icon at the top that backs out, the "Off" button on the screen backs out, AND the home button backs out. I powered off and back on again - guess it needed to clear something further?

The "about" still specifies 2.0.14beta, so that is still an open question - is that incorrect, or the actual PRS version? I do have the 2.0.18 change log on the device, so the about version would seem to be an oversight - ?
