Is it 1.1.... based or 1.4... based?

One of the possible explanations is, that cached assets with the same path clash on newer versions. If that's the case, simply renaming files should resolve the issue.

Update on "stability" issue, seems like only PRS-300 and (surprise surprise) PRS-950 are affected.

Ragarding statusbar issue, the easiest (temporary) solution would be for addon's not to use anything from the statusbar (there are issues with icons overlapping stuff etc).

At least in case when clock display is desired, standard PRS+ code can handle keeping clock up to date.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for copying the post. I have been viewing that thread (Google Translate is brilliant, even though I do speak a little Russian!) but since I am not a member of the site I couldn't post.

I will take a look at FreeCell, but my initial thoughts are that it would require a lot of work. I would have to add a new "highlight" graphic (to highlight the top of a card hidden by cards on top of it). That isn't so bad. I would have to check to make sure the card and those above it are in the correct order (alternating colour and decreasing in value). That might be tricky. Then I would have to check that there are enough freecells available to move that number of cards. That would be fairly easy. And then I would have to check that the destination card can accept the pile. I guess that would involving copying some existing code.

So, all in all, it would be possible. Just not sure how much time it would take me...

Hi everyone,

I had some time this afternoon, and managed to add to FreeCell the ability to move more than one card at a time, assuming that the cards are already sorted and there are enough freecells available. The updated zip file is in post #145. (I know that various Windows versions of FreeCell also allow you to use empty rows as well. I have not added that functionality, and don't really intend to!)

I trust that this latest version is bug-free. I have successfully loaded it onto my 600 and will continue to try it out. So far, it seems to work correctly...

Draughts

Hi everyone,

Here's an initial 2-player implementation of Draughts. I ended up doing this essentially from scratch, since that was easier than adapting something pre-existing. However, I haven't started working on the 1-player mode AI yet. That might take a lot longer! (Note that there is an Auto ON/OFF toggle, but it doesn't do anything yet...)

This game only allows valid moves, and recognises both types of win (outright victory by taking all your opponent's pieces AND your opponent has no valid moves). It has an undo with depth 10.

I've tested it on my 600, and it works. Next step, AI...

UPDATE 1: I have added an initial AI routine. The AI code is based on a Draughts game by Kurt Grigg (http://www.hypergurl.com/games/draughts.html) But I have adapted it and refined it, adding a couple of extra steps, which has improved the difficulty a little.

UPDATE 2: I noticed that occasionally the AI would hang, so I tracked that bug down.

NOTE: Latest version of zip file is not located in post #193.

could you also have a look at older issues, move info from the statusbar, reduce number of images used (for instance MahJohng is using 3 huge image file, that could occupy something like half a meg each, when expanded)

PRS+ Games (latest versions)

Hi kartu,

As per your request, I have gone over the six games I have been involved with and taken all labels out of the status bar. For some, this was easy. For others, it required a little bit more shuffling around. Let me know what you think.

UPDATE 1: All games have been updated. Some have only been slightly altered. FreeCell now has a text-based Help screen (which works on my 600!). I changed the pieces in Chess to make the white pieces stand out a little more.

UPDATE 2: Chess now has 10-level undo (only 5 moves really when playing against the reader) and an app icon in the upper left corner. Sudoku has been made like the other games so that pressing the Home button on Touch readers performs a Quit; also a graphic glitch has been fixed. FreeCell has a MUCH better shuffling algorithm and the SnapShotIndicator sprite now appears on Touch readers.

UPDATE 3: After fixing the status bar of Sudoku, I decided that I could use the same status bar graphic in my games. While this is a very minor update, the end result looks good! So Chess, Draughts, FiveRow and FreeCell have been updated.

Hi Mark,
Another weird issue with FreeCell: on my 600 the snapshot icon doesn't appear at all. It's there in the Sim, but not on the reader... Any ideas?

Hello Ben,

havn't found time to install at my PRS505, so no clue why the snapshot icon isn't shown.

But I worked today to move the help-text of FreeCell into a simple text-control.
Thus reduced the size of "freecellLabels.png" dramatically.
Further more I was able to reduce the size of "freecellMain.png"
By reducing the colour-depth to 16 colours and by modifing the cutouts, so that a smaller template could be used.

This two approaches could be used with the other apps, too.
The use of a text-control for help enables also the use of translated help-texts!

@kartu: is that your intention?
@kartu2: is there a way to export the language-setting off PRS+ to select the correct local help-text?

I have also included code for the CARDS Icon in the titlebar and the possibility of translations for title and description.

Again, all this was done and tested only in the Sim, no tests with a real device. But this should proof the concept.

This shouldn't be possible AFTER you moved a card!
(selecedCard.selected had to be set to false after a valid move, will check on this)
My intention was to FIRST select the bottom card in a column the very normal way (move the hand-cursor left/right or by pressing the digit-key) and then move the selection up to select a series of card.
After that select the target-column again the normal way.
Movment up is limited to 5 cards, as this is the maximum number of cards to be moved at once with all free-cells empty.
There are no further checks, as your code will reject any illegal move.
