[GUI Plugin] FanFicFare

I'm getting a "Error Updating Metadata" for every single fic url I download. I've only encountered this since the latest update, and I'm not sure what settings to change to get rid of this highly annoying popup message that I have to keep dismissing. Any help would be appreciated!

"An error has occurred while FanFicFare was updating calibre's metadata for [fic title]. The ebook has been updated, but the metadata has not."

ETA: I should clarify that this error shows up for works that have already been downloaded to calibre and are simply being updated with new chapters, not for newly added works.

From the error message, it looks like the same problem with Generate Cover that was discussed on the previous page of the thread.

Are you using the latest release of the Generate Cover plugin?

Does the problem go away if you turn off the settings to automatically generate covers?

I just read the previous page that discussed this, and turned off the generate covers automatically setting, which cleared up the problem!

I'm having issues where anything pre existing from ao3 can't be found or updated unless i force redownload the book, and then it just sits there and never updates even though it asks if I want to overwrite. Also, it seems the only for it to find anything on ao3 is if i manually search for the url. The automatic function no longer works. Am I using it incorrectly, or is it a error?

I'm not seeing that problem, but neither do I use AO3 a lot. Anybody else?

Can you provide some story URLs that exhibit the problem? A debug log (run Calibre in debug mode--see Calibre's Preferences dropdown) would also help.

If you've been doing a lot of downloads it's possible that AO3 noticed and is blocking you...

I just used AO3 no problems at all.

It downloaded and updated just fine.

Some of them are working, and some of them seem to think there is no url present. It also cannot find the url, even when it is the first thing in the document. Those that the urls are there seem to working fine.

yes, but I checked, they are still there. And if I manually download it thru the plugin and force the overwrite, it works. Hence my confusion.

I've never downloaded on the site and then tried to update through Calibre.

Maybe you have to download those stories again? At least if they are incomplete.

They are complete in terms of chapters, just no summery or tags. I guess I'll just manually do the ones that don't show up. Thanks for going over it with me.

If you added epubs you downloaded somewhere else to calibre, you may need to turn on the 'Search EPUB text for Story URL' option. See attached.

Otherwise, I'm inclined to chalk it up to oddities from downloading them originally outside Calibre.

As far as I could tell, it's fanficfare that doesn't accept http://download.archiveofourown.org/works/5358362 links, which is the link in those stories taratears have trouble with.
