I have it on good authority that the cold you are reporting is merely a mass hallucination. The World is actually on track for the third warmest winter on record...... |

This of course explains the very warm Christmas you had, and the blazing temperatures Florida is about to get! | |

Actually. I think it's all my fault. Back in December I went to Disney MGM Studios and Magic Kingdom for their holiday events. And during that time, they had soap flakes falling from the sky to simulate snow flurries. I turned to the missus and said: "how crazy would it be if we actually had snow..." And now it's 49F outside :-p |

Temperature in Edmonton has bounced between -10 and -25 C the past few weeks - not bitter cold but not exactly tropical breezes. Very little snow fall since early December, 5 cm here and 5 cm there - about 30cm on the ground. Forecast calls for +2 C by Monday. Plus 2! Might even stay above 0C for a few days. Could even get puddles of water in the streets. Imagine that, unfrozen water, outside, just lying there on the ground. |

Actually, I've got a non-duck-billed platypus at home: http://www.outdooraction.co.uk/acatalog/hoser.jpg I don't know why, because I only ever use a camel bak now... |

Well, platypus actually means "with wide/large feet". So duck-billed just completes the description. Completes? NO! It should actually be called egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, venomous but cute platypus! At the very least! Light snow outside. It was about time, all these promises of extreme weather conditions and we only have about 10-15cm of frozen snow on the ground. |

Also, it's not very sunny here at the moment. Mostly because it's after 10pm. It's a warm 25C here, or it would be if I didn't have the air conditioning on. Sleeping happens above the sheets. Cheers, Marc

Although I suppose you could use it for this sort of thing if you find yourself stuck on a raft in the middle of the Pacific with only rancid water to drink, a la Bear Grylls (WARNING: Not embedded as probably NSFW, despite the worst bits being blurred): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtIG4...layer_embedded
