For years and years I relied on publishers to do my publishing, but times are a-changing, so instead of doing what should have always been their promotion work for my books (around 50 counting large-print editions), I now have to do my promotion for my first book on Kindle. Actually, I'd prefer to be writing books.

Anyway, because I hate repeating myself, I want to send you clicking to www.blackhorsewesterns.com to find out about "The Trouble with Misfit Lil." Then I want you to click to http://chapokeefe.webs.com/bhemch to read the first chapter of Misfit Lil Cheats the Hangrope and some of the praise that others have generously heaped on my head.... Or is it really Lil's head?

I've very new here, and being new anywhere at an age beyond youth is a rather bewildering and uncommon experience. So apologies if any of the above, like sending visitors off to other websites, is against the rules. But the superstars of the brave new ebook world tell me that this is the way you have to go, because reviews are vital to sales: "the key is to get as many reviews as possible early on."

GeoffC, I did read the rules first, but this bit left me somewhat confused:
"ANY self-promotion about an ebook, blog, etc., that is directed to your site (or not) is to be in the Self-Promotion forum and contained in current threads about your ebooks (no blog posts) or in the "Shamelessly (& Endlessly) Promote Your Blog/Website/Review site" for information found at a blog / website / etc."
Just let me know if or when I do/have done anything I shouldn't.

In the vein of shameless self-promotion - I submit my first self-published effort - a short story called Ratticus: A True Tale from Critter Corner.

For the Nook as well here.

Proceeds from the first 1,000 sales will be "donated" to our local appliance store - in order to replace the dishwasher that our "critter" ATE - believe it or not.
