Shameless promotion? Why, yes. I even have an excuse: My novels are now available in the UK Kindle store, so have at them:

The Losing Role
Thriller, espionage, historical fiction
At the end of World War II a failed German actor, Max Kaspar, is forced to join a desperate secret mission in which he must impersonate an enemy American officer. So Max cooks up his own fanatical plan — he'll use his false identity to escape tyranny and war and flee to the America he'd once abandoned.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003D7LVRS £2.25

Besserwisser: A Novel
Comic, satire, mystery
Munich, 1990: American expat slacker Gordy Ford poses as a top Hitler scholar, all to impress a girl. Stuck in his scam, Gordy soon thinks he's stumbled onto a shocking historical discovery that's made him the target of a wannabe Neo-Nazi and shady Russian mafia. There's dark and dry humor, a rowdy plot, and imposters exposed despite their best efforts.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002NU5LCW Currently £1.85

False Refuge
Crime noir, adventure, thriller
Army reservist Alex Swenson goes AWOL in Hawaii, only to find he must fight and escape from the very same secretive, corrupt organization that had promised to harbor him and give him a new life.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002W5RGDA Currently £1.85

Wondering if they're for you? Be sure to see the reviews in the US Kindle store, linked in my signature below.

I appreciate it and hope you'll give them a look.

Thanks, cheers, and happy reading,
Steve

Time for a shameless plug. Not many places that allow that anymore, so thanks for the opportunity. My book is also available in the UK on Kindle now.

Rubies and Other Gems - the Novel

A one-night stand in her dreams isn’t the worst thing that can happen to Lily’s shaky marriage. Unless it involves a real man who lived and died years before she was born.

Transported through time by her grandmother’s ruby jewelry, Lily is appalled when she discovers Daniel, her dream lover, isn’t a dream after all. But she’s entranced by the simpler nature of times gone by and can’t resist going back again. But only after imposing strict rules on herself. When a miscalculation keeps her away longer than planned, she’s confronted by her enraged husband, Sam, on her return. Aware she can’t make amends and steer her children in the right direction unless she stays in the here and now, Lily vows to leave the past to the past.

But in her attempt to take away the jewelry’s power, she inadvertently sends herself back without her return ticket, the rubies. Despite the kindness of an older, grayer—and married Daniel, she fears she’ll grow old and die before her loved ones are born. A far greater fear is that her children won’t ever see the light of day if she’s not there to give birth to them.

Thanks for reading and I hope you sample a bit of my writing.

Two of my supernatural crime thrillers, The Scrubs and Road Rash are only 99cents over at Barnes and Noble.

The Scrubs: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The...0837276/?itm=4
Description: James Jeter, the notorious serial killer with a sixth sense, holds court inside London's Wormwood Scrubs Prison. He's the focus of the "North Wing Project." Under the influence of a hallucinogen, Jeter can create an alternative world known as "The Rift" containing the souls of his victims. Pardons are on offer to inmates who'll enter The Rift. Michael Keeler has nothing to lose and little to live for. He's sent into The Rift to learn the identity of Jeter's last victim. It's a mission where the guilty can be redeemed, but at a price...

Road Rash: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Roa...0837757/?itm=3
Description: James Straley might think his life is cursed, but it doesn't compare to what lies ahead of him on life's highway. He's on the run with the proceeds of a botched bank robbery. It's all he has. His crew is dead and his getaway car just died on him. He's on foot with the cash when he comes across a two-car pileup. There's no saving the drivers, but he can save himself by stealing one of the wrecked cars. Unfortunately, he boosts the wrong set of wheels. Within an hour of driving off, he develops a rash that eats away at his flesh. No doctor can help him—only the car's original owner. If Straley wants his skin back, he must journey on the road to redemption, which ends in the heart of Central America.

"Deep thinking camouflaged in action and humor."

"An interesting story line by an author who’s unafraid to have some fun."

"The characters are a little odd, but extremely realistic and likable."

"Campbell has a great writing style that I really enjoyed."

"The author is rather good at writing sexual tension."

Sci-fi adventure, book 1 of 3 - Dead Forever: Awakening

Imagine a world where death is merely an inconvenience. An impossible dream for Carl Brown, plagued by a recurring nightmare of a plummeting craft and his fiery death. Then as always, he wakes to a miserable life with barely an identity -- he suffers from amnesia, which includes forgetting that his lengthy past was stolen by an immortal enemy. And the bad guys have plans for Carl -- reduce his body to ashes and pack them in ice. When he's rescued by an oddball crew who claim to be fellow rebels, the borders of reality are tested, and who to trust is anyone's guess. Carl endures a wild ride as he enters a world unlike all he knows, except he does know. The foreign life is his former life, before his inflicted amnesia. And his name is not Carl. He learns of a past stretching lifetimes spent fighting his sworn enemy, when not enjoying a humorous lifestyle of drunken parties and flirtatious women, one of whom is a member of his rebel team. Beyond rising sexual tension, the hero takes a trip through the subconscious, dreams, and a strange reality where bodies are manufactured and childhood is obsolete, a grim reminder of his one undying wish -- to someday be a child again. First he'll have to remember how to reincarnate.

Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034G6628/
Smashwords: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/8981

Also available, book 2 of 3 - Dead Forever: Apotheosis

A god? No thanks, too much responsibility. Sequel to Awakening, the hero is plunged into an alien world at war and natives who either worship him or want the heretic burned alive. His nemesis arrives, and he likes playing god, poised to launch unthinkable wrath. Meanwhile trouble brews back home -- the rebels are under siege and the body supply is depleted. The hero hatches a daring plot to outsmart the enemy, risking his own death -- for real this time.

Good to hear from you, Neil. Yup, I'm a Fleet Street hand from the old days. Knowing PR4Books, you'll no doubt have come across Andrew Young. His late dad, the legendary Syd Young, and I served time together on Mirror Group newspapers (when they were still newspapers and not a glorified TV Guide) and had a whole bunch of mutual pals; those surviving, but pretty well all retired, are still close buddies. I've never dealt with PR4B, but if Andrew is half as good and half as straight as his ol' dad, then he's twice as good as the rest. I think you're in good hands, mate. Bestest. T'other Neil

Hi all.
I wrote a science fiction techno-thriller called Cyberdrome that is currently selling for $2.99 for the digital version. It includes the 20-page CGI image gallery from the paperback, and in fact, it's nearly identical to the 292-page paperback, except that no trees were killed in its creation. So, kudos to you for thinking green (plus, the paperback is around $14, so that's another kind of "green" you are saving!

Anyway, the novel sold over 2,100 copies so far this year, won a Podbram award for "best SF novel of the year" and has garnered a bunch of positive reviews from both Amazon and Goodreads, so I guess that means it doesn't completely suck, right?

But don't take my word for it; I'm the author and therefore probably somewhat biased. You don't even have to trust those 2,100 people either. Just go download the free sample and see for yourself!

Cheers!

Oh yeah, where can you download it? Amazon, Amazon.UK, B&N, Apple, Sony, Kobo, Diesel, and many other places. Click HERE to go to the official site, or just type "cyberdrome" in your favorite browser and you'll find it quickly. It helps to have a unique title (and be on the internet for over 12 years)!

So, I was over at Smashwords picking up books by another MR author and I saw your Passengers to Zeta Nine which piqued my interest. After reading the introduction on your website, I decided to purchase it as well as Passengers to Sentience. Then, I hopped back over to MR to see if you were participating as an author & I'm glad to see that you are. Does it matter whether I read these two books in the order that they were published? (Well, yes, I know it really doesn't matter, but what I'm really asking is whether there's any relationship between the two books and whether I'll miss out on something if I plunge in to the Zeta Nine book first.)

I have been meaning to get this book for a while, but now I have a dilemma... get from Sony (where I have a gift card balance and I save a whole $.15--but assuming it has drm?) or get from smashwords, where I have to go and dig out my credit card, but I get to leave a review (I review everything I get at smashwords). Hmm... what to do, what to do

Could I just say how desperate I am to get reviews and feedback from readers? Also, don't know if this was touched on, granted leaving a review on Smashwords covers all formats, but it will only be seen by readers who come to smashwords, IMHO if you "love" a book and really want to help the author out and you have an account at Amazon and or Barnes and Noble and other places, you could cut and paste the review there as well.

So here's my deal: A free e-book on Smashwords -- The Death Trip is a quick read novella, sci-fi but more mainstream fiction with a medical-technothriller twist.

The Death Trip -- "comfort care for the dying" or something more nefarious? After the death of his beloved grandmother, Chuck decides to investigate. He finds himself torn between two women -- the activist who suspects a dark agenda and the beautiful MD who helped create the process.

I'm also plugging, my full-length novel, Loisaida -- A New York Story. For 50% off ($1.49), use the coupon: LU52V.

Loisaida is a dark, gritty full-length novel inspired by real events in New York's East Village/Lower Eastside in the late 1980's. It's literary fiction, but accessible. One Amazon reviewer describing it as a "literary thriller." Here's a bit from a smashwords review:

"This is noir at its best, a dark tale that explores human frailty among those who pursue justice, as well as among the perpetrators of horrific crimes. In her psychological insights, as well as in the quality of her writing, Stein is a worthy heir to Raymond Chandler. She is able to tell a captivating story, and the result is a book that is impossible to put down."

Thank you for posting.

Cyberdrome is NOT DRM-encrypted in any of it's formats. I was one of the first to drop drm over at Amazon when it became an option for Indie authors do do so, and I'm sticking with it.

Also, please let me know if you end up buying from Sony, because I'm curious if they are reporting sales. I've sold just over 2,000 copies from Amazon (for the Kindle) this year, but not one single copy from Sony yet.

Thanks,
Joe
