Dr. Drib, do you approve of newbies, indies, science fiction and/or humorous verse? If not I'm in big trouble.

This is my first post here and I am also trying out putting in links for the first time, so I hope I do it right.
My first novel 'Passengers to Sentience' is still only 99 cents at the moment, available

for Kindle here: http://www.amazon.com/Passengers-to-.../dp/B0038KXKVA

and at smashwords in multiple formats here: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/7655

The limerick book is only available in electronic form, hence the title –

The First Completely Electronic Robot and Science Fiction Limerick Book

available for free at smashwords: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/7168

This is a sample from the limerick book

There was a young robot called Mike
Went off to the moon for a hike.
When crossing the sea
Of tranquillity,
He wished he had taken his trike.

or there's

There once was a robotic girl
Set all the boys’ heads in a whirl.
With synthetic arms
And ephemeral charms,
She caused all their minds to unfurl.

Only if you're a newbie who writes science fiction, publishes in indie publications, and writes humorous verse. (However, if I find any misspillled owrds or run-on sentences I hate those, then you'll be required to be a telemarketer for life [not that there's anything wrong with that.])

I'd like to join the ranks of the shameless by promoting my blog, Online Novels, which contains the titles, descriptions and web addresses of free novels available on the internet, including links to the pages of individual authors as well as to books offered for a limited time by sites such as HarperCollins, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

The blog lists more than 1200 books in many genres - adventure, fantasy, romance, science fiction, etc; it does not include short stories, classics, children's fiction or unfinished serials (with a very few exceptions), since one must draw the line somewhere and just maintaining Online Novels in its current form takes most of my free time.

I'm interested in hearing from authors who would like me to include their work. Surprisingly, many writers are unaware of sites like mine (there's a list of others at the end of my blog) and are not availing themselves of this free exposure. If you're a reader, please drop by a take a look; the library is open 24 hours a day.

Thank you.

The Tether None Good - Limited Release Price

Today I got word that an Publishing Agent is interested in reading a sample (first 50 pages) of my debut novel - The Tether None Good. To celebrate this awesome news, I am dropping the price of None Good to $2.99 for the rest of its limited release.

Here is the synopsis for None Good, the first book in The Tether series by Nick Davis (Me)

None Good is the story of Sarah Taylor, a troubled Baltimore school student. Sarah is not a doe eyed victim but a smart, sassy and sarcastic young lady who is not afraid to kick butt, and say what she thinks. She stumbles upon powerful device called a Tether that allows her to control an Angelic like bodyguard called Paul, and connects her to the mysterious source that allows her to cast indices (spells).

The story deals with her discovery of the Tether, and chronicles her journey through her first night as the Tethers Keeper. Sinister forces try to track her down to claim her and the device for themselves. She is aided in this journey by C.T., the Grandson of the original Tether Keeper. Together with C.T. they race against the darkness as Sarah discovers the powers she can tap into and how to control the Tethers Angelic Guardian Paul.

Set against the real world back drop of Baltimore city the story takes the reader through a reality that is disturbingly familiar, yet haunted by shadowy unearthly creatures. This is a frenetic paced chase novel set upon a dark urban fantasy. I think it appeals to mainstream fantasy readers, paranormal enthusiasts, and contains enough horror to draw in that audience too.

I hope you take advantage of this and check out The Tether None Good at its Limited Release price of $2.99

You can pick up The Tether None Good at Smashwords.com by clicking here

Okay, here is my third plug for the month. I've limited myself to four a month. Don't want to weigh down the thread too much.

Because my reading and writing pleasure leans towards women's fiction, my characters have issues with their families, lose loved ones, and struggle to fill their lives with friends they treasure, a way of life that nurtures them, and a special someone who holds the same things dear. If the following blurb interests you, SERENDIPITY HOUSE is available at most e-book outlets as well as Amazon. You can read the first two chapters on my website, joycedebacco.com.

Sylvie was a pleaser. She did as her mother pleased, and she did as her fiancé pleased. Then she did as she pleased. Raised by a domineering mother, Sylvie doesn’t like the submissive woman she’s become. Determined to take back her life, she heads to the hills instead of to the altar on her wedding day. Coming across a quaint, country inn with an intriguing name, she impulsively checks into SERENDIPITY HOUSE.

Peopled with an odd assortment of characters, the inn has clearly seen better days. Even the regulars have a bit of wear on them. Thus, when debonair Alex arrives and is strangely comfortable vacationing among the geriatric set, Sylvie is suspicious and does her best to ignore him. But Alex will not be ignored, pushing her buttons until she admits, if only to herself that she’s falling in love with him. Not until she’s hired to manage the inn does she learn he’s not the pedigreed gentleman he purports to be, but a streetwise PI hired by her ex to find her. Adding insult to injury, he’s bought the inn and asks for her help in restoring it to its former glory. Forced to work together, both learn about relationships, expectations, and acceptance—among family members as well as strangers who become like family.
Thanks for reading , and I hope you’ll visit SERENDIPITY HOUSE.

Thanks, Dr. Drib, for making my post appear twice. I am having to return because I forgot to say something of what my SF novel Passengers to Sentience is about:

A cyber detective succeeds in his latest inter-planetary drugs bust and finds the girl of his dreams on body-swap vacation. Full of optimism for his future, he then loses everything when he’s kidnapped and cloned onto a deadly desert planet.

He is ‘chipped’ and controlled by his ruthless captors who use him as disposable labour in their treacherous mine. Every day his life is threatened by ill-maintained machinery, dust storms and the devious plotting of his work-mates. Meanwhile, his girl has suffered the same fate. After months of isolation, they find each other and together risk all to escape. Just when they think they’ve made it, they find the miners’ bodies were possessed by alien hosts and they have to fight again for freedom.

and
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/7655– 99 cents

I’m sorry to report that my popular limerick book has had to be priced now at 99 cents, so it’s no longer free as mentioned previously. Still very good value, assuming you find limericks funny, at less than 2 cents a chuckle. Again, my apologies but after four months of working for nothing, the robots were making a ruckus and the aliens were causing an affray.

Dead Forever

Dead Forever: Awakening

Kindle edition 99 cents -- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034G6628

Death is temporary, we'll be back. In a conformist society that reincarnates, insurgents are eliminated by erasing all memory of past lives, and the mind-washed rebels are banished to a lonely corner of the galaxy. The hero escapes the dead forever process but remains stricken with amnesia, to begin a quest to awaken his memory, then confront the enemy. But first, he must overcome his lust.

Awakening begins the Dead Forever series, followed by Apotheosis and Resonance.

----

Praise for William Campbell’s Dead Forever Trilogy:

“Rarely has an author tackled the question of reincarnation and explored the nature of consciousness and memory in such an unusual and imaginative way.”
M. G., United Kingdom

“This story will make you wonder about those odd thoughts that pop into your head, and those dreams that have no apparent meaning. It will make you look forward to that next sense of deja vu, and when it happens you’ll wonder what it really represents.”
R. R., Georgia

“Lots of suspense and excitement! Well defined characters! And while it was pure fiction, I could see some parallel with today’s worldwide problems. In short, I enjoyed reading the story and found the basic concepts of life and death very thought provoking.”
R. F., California

“This book had me captivated from the very first page. I had a hard time putting it down and I think about it even now that I’m done with it. I thought about it whenever I wasn’t reading it. I would love to live like these folks, hell, maybe I already do and I just don’t know it.”
S.O., Oregon

“The book is one mindwarp of a story. Like an epic that wrings your brain out like a sponge, making it fresh and new. I give it six stars on the five star rating system.”
B. C., Fukushima, Japan

----

Book one, Dead Forever: Awakening -- Amazon Review February 2010

Are you Dead Forever?
By Bliss Stillness (Tokyo, Japan)

This book is brilliant! You, the reader, are plunged literally "head first" into the mind of an unexceptional loser. However through a remarkable turn of events this ordinary nobody is catapulted into an unordinary adventure to reclaim and rediscover his extraordinary self. Through the course of the book this pessimistic, cynical guy grows on you partly because his inclination for joking and poking fun, and partly because he starts growing up and out of his former mold and into a whole new order of being. Add to that a likeable cast of friends/comrades who help him, indeed prove indispensable, along his journey, and an insipid enemy force that will stop at nothing to prevent his interference in their treacherous conspiracy.

Things I really like about this book are the oddball, sometimes foreshadowy, dream sequences that open most of the chapters, and the first-person writing style which allows the reader to be fully, intimately inside the mind of the main character. At times he bites his tongue with people he's talking to, but his mind doesn't stop talking and he persists to think up all sorts of thoughts, from sarcastic to observant to slapstick, revealing a colorfully comedic character. I also like the creative sci-fi elements, the ideas and musings about consciousness, past lives, reincarnation, God, heaven and hell and in particular the actual story that takes place, but I don't dish spoilers so get out there and read this book!

In the end it's quite obvious that it ISN'T the end of the story and I'm really looking forward to seeing where the story goes from there! Can't wait.
