“I chose to rate this book 5 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. Renie and her family became real to me. I give the author credit for such good development and writing. There isn't a lot of sex, not a lot of profanity just a story about a dysfunctional family. This family has a lot of hardships in the early 1900s but they persevere through the years. I read deep into the night and off on throughout the day. Good, good book. I will recommend.”

Sometimes life changes in three generations, sometimes not. Orphaned at two in a large, Italian-American family, Renie's never known a mother's love. Weaned on rejection and raised on neglect by a bitter stepmother, she's unsure how to mother her own children, unwittingly passing on what she believes are the proper roles of men and women.
