Hi all,
I just mentioned my novel Reunion and its Smashwords coupon for MobileRead in a separate thread, but here is a mention for my newly released novella The Cinderella Curse. Here is the brief synopsis:

The Cinderella Curse is the hilarious tale of a girl who whacks a witch, gets cursed, and becomes a pumpkin at midnight. Sound strange? She thinks so.

Cindy had a fairy tale life – well, not literally – but she was pretty and popular. Then one fateful autumn day, while picking apples, she encountered a real-life witch. After accidentally clocking the witch on the head with her basket of apples, the angry witch put a spell on her. As Cindy would soon find out, she was destined to live out her nights turning into a pumpkin at midnight. Talk about a crimp in your social life!

There is only one antidote for Cindy’s terrible curse - if only she knew what it was. Hilarity ensues as Cindy attempts to lead a normal life as a part-time pumpkin.

For the next 24 hrs, I'm offering this novella up for free on Smashwords as an introduction to my writing. Simply PM me or email me at jl.penn@live.com with MobileRead Coupon in the title.

Thanks for reading!

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, and though I tried to introduce myself in the introductions forum, I couldn't find it. Everytime I clicked on it, it brought me to a thread that said "closed." So I guess I will just skip that and join in the other topics where appropriate. I do have a few questions, but I will ask in a separate post.

Because my reading and writing pleasure leans towards women's fiction, my characters have issues with their families, lose loved ones, and struggle to fill their lives with friends they treasure, a way of life that nurtures them, and a special someone who holds the same things dear. If the following blurb interests you, you can read the first two chapters on my website, joycedebacco.com.

Sylvie Gardner was a pleaser. She did as her mother pleased, and she did as her fiancé pleased. Then she did as she pleased. Raised by a domineering mother, Sylvie doesn’t like the submissive woman she’s become. Determined to take back her life, she heads to the hills instead of to the altar on her wedding day. Coming across a quaint, country inn with an intriguing name, she impulsively checks into SERENDIPITY HOUSE in the Pocono Mountains. Peopled with an odd assortment of characters, the inn has clearly seen better days. Even the regulars have a bit of wear on them. Thus, when debonair Alex Clemenceau arrives and is strangely comfortable vacationing among the geriatric set, Sylvie is suspicious and does her best to ignore him. But Alex will not be ignored, pushing her buttons until she admits, if only to herself that she’s falling in love with him. Not until she’s hired to manage the inn does she learn he’s not the pedigreed gentleman he purports to be, but a streetwise PI hired by her ex to find her. Adding insult to injury, he’s bought the inn and asks for her help in restoring it to its former glory. Forced to work together, both learn about relationships, expectations, and acceptance—among family members as well as strangers who become like family.

Thanks for reading , and I hope you’ll visit SERENDIPITY HOUSE.

Thank you

I know, I knew it was coming but today finally doing that Amazon search and see my novel come up gave me that warm feeling. I sat back in my work chair and just said cool...

Hi everyone,

*nervous smile* I hope I get things right in shamelessly promoting my story.

I've written an original (screen)play: An epic wuxia (kung fu fantasy) drama of a quasi-historical Chinese empire, A Summit of Tumultuous Winds details the lives of several individuals struggling to find meaning in their existence through romance and adventure.

It will have a beautiful cover soon. But ... not yet. As I note in my author bio, if you review what you've read (30% of the book) I'll probably be so moved that I'll give you the entire ebook for free using a coupon provided.

If I did anything wrong, please let me know so I can correct the mistake! And please feel free to give suggestions! *trots off to see other authors on mobileread*

I have a couple of supernatural thrillers which are 99cents for a limited time.

The Scrubs
James Jeter, the notorious serial killer with a sixth sense, holds court inside London's Wormwood Scrubs Prison. He's the focus of the "North Wing Project." Under the influence of a hallucinogen, Jeter can create an alternative world known as "The Rift" containing the souls of his victims. Pardons are on offer to inmates who'll enter The Rift. Michael Keeler has nothing to lose and little to live for. He's sent into The Rift to learn the identity of Jeter's last victim. It's a mission where the guilty can be redeemed, but at a price...

Road Rash
Straley might think his life is cursed, but it doesn't compare to what lies ahead of him on life's highway. He's on the run with the proceeds of a botched bank robbery. It's all he has. His crew is dead and his getaway car just died on him. He's on foot with the cash when he comes across a two-car pileup. There's no saving the drivers, but he can save himself by stealing one of the wrecked cars. Unfortunately, he boosts the wrong set of wheels and gets taken on the ride of his life.

Hmmm... then you might enjoy my book, Kai Lung Raises His Voice, which are stories set in a fictional ancient china, as told by Kai Lung, an itinerant story teller.

Now that was shameless.

I finally found my beautiful cover in a collection of (out of copyright) chinese paintings that's around in a torrent called "Ancient Chinese Painting Masterworks". That's 3GB of fairly high quality pictures to look through.

Impressive reviews! And although I generally hate prologues, a nice prologue. (Look Inside is great.) Even with a 450 high TBR pile, I'm sorely tempted.

Let me try to understand:

You want to plug a book called PORTAL, a time travel fantasy that [you] just can't miss?

Actually, I see no reason why you can't plug your book called PORTAL, a time travel fantasy.

Does that answer your question?

Just until April 16.

Help out a high school band program. Half of all royalties go to the Mountain View Marching Band in Mesa, Arizona. For less than the price of one of those fancy coffee drinks at Starbuck you can get a fine, fine book and you can help one of the top, and quite underfunded, music programs in the country.
