Rubies and Other Gems - the Novel. Women's fiction with a time-travel twist.

Seeking relief from her unhappy family life, a woman travels back in time only to discover she may have put her future happiness at risk.

"I would recommend this novel as one of those books that moves the reader through the days, months, and years of living, that open the reader's awareness to circumstances that, in this case, may be just a bit unique.” Judith of The Book Binge.

"Rubies and Other Gems is a wonderful treat for all women, especially those who know the stresses of married life.” Jaidis Shaw of Juniper Grove.

"RUBIES AND OTHER GEMS is an enjoyable read of a modern woman's struggles to find out what she really wants in life.” Debra Martin of Two Ends of the Pen.

“Overall, this was a quick and quite enjoyable read.” Grace Krispy of Motherlode.

Take No More (The murder mystery thriller)

My name is James Blake.

A single act turns my life upside down. I come home to find my wife, Julia, shot and bleeding. She dies in my arms.

The police are no help. I'm sure they're trying to fit me up for the murder.

I check Julia's messages and find just one. It says 'help me'. It comes with a strange, old image of a woman being seduced. It's all I have to go on. That and the fact that someone is trying to kill me.

But I will find Julia's killers, no matter what it takes.

5-star reviews:

'Wow! This is action-packed from page one, and the reader is instantly thrust into murder, suspense, and intrigue. James is just a normal guy who thinks he has a normal life. Until the murder of his wife. He's forced on a journey from the UK to Italy to find her killers, and finds himself in the midst of a powerful Italian family, the hunt for precious works of art, and danger at every turn. The writing gives you the feel of actually being in Italy - you can taste and smell it. The plot is action-packed and a real page-turner. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great crime thriller! And fans of Harlan Coben and Simon Kernick will love it!'

'This is an outstanding debut novel by Seb Kirby. He captivates the reader from the first page, and remains gripping and compelling throughout. I could not put this book down. Listed under Murder, Mystery and Thriller but so much more than that. The geography of London and Florence was handled very well to add richness to the novel, alongside the Authors' obvious love and knowledge of the art world. In addition to this, the reader is taken into the Italian underworld weaving a web of corruption, deceit, secrets and murder around the whole plot. If you enjoy a really good Thriller, in the style of Sidney Sheldon with extras, and are prepared to be kept on the edge of your seat throughout, this book is a definite must! I am eagerly awaiting the next novel.'

'It was a few pages before I realized what I was reading: a sort of modern noir. I walked in the hero's shoes, was privy to his thoughts and intruded on his emotions as he was drawn into the mystery of his wife's death. Kirby's spare yet rich prose, his perfect word choices, made this a work that appeared to be effortlessly constructed. That seamlessness is the hallmark of a gifted writer. Definitely recommended.'

Take No More, out now on Kindle. 69,000 words, approx 260 print pages, 4.7/5 in 12 reviews at amazon US / 17 reviews at amazon UK.

In the US it is available for free loan if you are a member of amazon Prime . But you can still purchase it at bargain price: Take No More - US / Take No More - UK

Cruel Justice has been reduced to 99cents/86 pence and is featured on ENT today.

http://ereadernewstoday.com/bargain-...ustice/679605/

Here's the blurb.

The headless body of a wealthy widow is discovered decomposing in Chelling Forest. Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins and her partner, DS Pete Childs are assigned to the case. A few days later another victim, this time a young girl, is discovered. Who could the killer be and what's the connection between the two victims? Then after a third murder, the killer contacts Lorne with a grisly surprise. It looks like Lorne has a serial killer on her hands - and one that has become fixated on her. As she tries to solve the crimes, Lorne is also coping with a failing marriage and new, unsympathetic boss with whom she has a secret past. Then, as she begins to despair at the lack of clues, help arrives from an unlikely source.

Hi,

My new kindle romcom novel Babe on Board has just come out:

Single Motherhood At 40 Is A Very Bumpy Ride!

When 40 year old singleton Molly becomes pregnant to her commitment-phobe long-term lover, he runs. Weary of her fashionable Notting Hill existence, Molly seeks the simple country life with her baby. She gets no further than a tiny apartment in Kew Gardens, one of London's greenest, prettiest, and wealthiest, suburbs. There she finds new friends at a post-natal group. They bond not only over baby talk but in their collective but distant lust for Caroline's exotic student gardener Christophe, a French perfumier studying orchids at Kew Gardens. Broke and alone, Molly struggles to fit in. She battles with the love for her baby's father that deepens with every tiny development of their child that he's missing; the surprising, secret advances of Christophe; and the universal questions of motherhood: to stay at home or go to work. Unlike her new friends, Molly has no choice, but which comes first, the childminder or the job? And whilst Molly's old single friends are convinced she's 'gone over to the other side', she discovers her newly acquired married ones are more than a little wary of her single status.

"A tender, entertaining read with some lovely set passages and an unexpected, heart-warming conclusion." THE BOOKSELLER

"A very funny story, bound to appeal to any new mum." BEST

"Highly amusing, perceptive tale." FAMILIES MAGAZINE

"Entertaining mum-lit comedy." BABY & YOU

"Definitely one for independent women." PRIMA BABY

"A fast, funny read. I loved it!" KATE HARRISON

Which do you look for first, the childminder or the job? If you enjoyed I Don't Know How She Does It you'll LOVE this!

99 cents:

Serendipity House.

A runaway bride and the PI hired to locate her get more than they bargained for at a rundown country inn filled with senior citizens.

Emily L. of Single Titles says, "Joyce DeBacco writes a compelling novel that is sure to warm your heart. With complex characters and an intriguing story line, the book is difficult to put down as you are anxious to see what happens next with the characters."

Zombies Abound

First there was British Zombie Breakout Part One - After the first zombie breakout infected half the country, the authorities should have been more careful. No-one in Kilkorne, a tiny fishing village with a picturesque castle and harbour, expected an attack. Now five teenagers and five adults must attempt to survive a horde of highly infectious, half dead creatures, the army's attempt to burn down the village and a suspected case of haunting (short story 14,500 words).

Available at e-reader stores:
Amazon UK
Amazon US
Smashwords
B&N
Apple

And now, there's - British Zombie Breakout Part Two

British Zombie Breakout Part 2: Escape From Kilkorne. Zombies are still on the rampage, killing and infecting anyone in their path. A close-knit band of ten uninfected fugitives must prove they are clean by escaping the stricken village where they are trapped by the army. A quarantine cordon surrounds the whole area, with an entire army camp between the village and freedom.

What chance of survival do the fugitives have while zombies are still at large in the English countryside and when a corrupt politician and the Chief Scientist at the Breathdeep Biological Research Facility are intent on their capture, dead or alive? Who will prove to be the more ingenious, the authorities, the fugitives or the zombies?

Short story of 18,500 words in twenty-six chapters.

Smashwords 5* review: "This was a fun read! Easy to get into the book! Good job!"

Amazon UK 4* review: "really well written.... you are rooting for all the characters but also want to smack a few of them too!!
left me wanting to find out what why and how....
hope this is not the end for the great (British) writer... lots more ideas please...."

The Last Page -- a cozy mystery is free on Prime

I like to say I'm writing myself "around the genre" (crime fiction) and THE LAST PAGE is a cozy mystery I co-wrote with Chicago author David J. Walker.

It takes place in a library -- of course, we had to kill the library director.

We entered it in the Amazon lending library, so if you're a Prime member you can get it free.

It is a novella, about 20,000 words and is supplemented by 2 short stories that were originally published in the anthology CHICAGO BLUES.

Hope you'll give it a look. Thanks.

From December 16 to December 18 (Friday to midnight Sunday, Pacific Time)

http://www.amazon.com/Bobby-on-a-stick-ebook/dp/B006I3GFO8/

A professional thief, Bobby Barhoe, has a problem with the Mafia: They want him to do a job which he can't possibly pull off, because one of his most valuable associates, John Staikos, had just had a terrible accident involving an oxygen tank and a blowtorch.

Desperately seeking to vanish as swiftly as possible, Bobby seeks the help of an old flame of his, Eileen Novorski. On his way there though, he runs over a horse, and the owner is an Alabama tribe shaman with a purpose: Help Bobby to bring John back from the dead, save his life, and perhaps have a couple of drinks while they're at it.

Will Bobby be able to really bring John back to life? Will they do the job in time? Or will they end up in the Parking Lot of Eternity, forever trying to find a free spot?

In his efforts, he will team up with a shaman, and almost die a number of times, fighting evil spirits, and demons, as well as get involved in a war against the forces of Hell itself.

My illustrated edition of Kim has got another couple of nice reviews at Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/B003JBHNS4/

Quote:
It was a joy to read: the Indian words were linked to a glossary in the back, the quotes and titles were formatted in such a way as to pleasantly distinguish them from the text, the text adjusted to font size changes, and overall it was remarkably error-free.
Quote:
The drawings are quite wonderful too; even on my iPhone they stand out and help to picture Kim and the Lama.
And it's now in the top 7,500 paid sales at Amazon.com and the top 3,000 paid sales at Amazon.co.uk!

I should also mention that there's a free version of Kim that I created and uploaded here on Mobileread:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24950

The free version only has hyperlinks for the words to which Kipling gave a footnote definition. Only the paid-for version has the numerous extra hyperlinks for other archaic and foreign words in the text.

THE HARBINGER OF DOOM SAGA

The Harbinger of Doom saga centers around one Lord Angle Theta, an enigmatic warrior of unknown origins and mystical power. No mortal man is his match in battle. No sorcery can contain or confound him. No scholar or sage can outwit him. But for all his skills, he is but one of us; a man, a human, who shares our faults, our dreams, and our ambitions. He boldly strides across the land, fearless, peerless, and cloaked in mystery; all his will bent on righting such wrongs as he deems fit.

Until the day the Gateway opened and turned the world on its head. On that fateful day, Korrgonn came and washed away our dreams. And his outre' realms of chaos set their unholy mark upon our world and claimed it for their own.

Only Theta and his companions see the enemies aligning against us. Only they foresee our end coming -- the end of civilization, the end of the world of man. Only they can hope to turn the tide of madness and preserve all that we hold dear.

But no man, not even our greatest hero, can stand against the Lords of Chaos and the dark armies of Nifleheim at their command. Fiends that infiltrate unseen within our ranks, that tear down our temples and our traditions; that devour us from within, unseen, unknown, unheralded, and unopposed until the hour grows far too late.

Through the murk and mist that hangs before our eyes, one man only sees true. One man pierces the veil of magic that blinds us all and marks the world as it truly is, revealing secrets, secrets of Angle Theta, so horrifying as to shatter a man's mind and call into question the very nature of good and evil.
Join us now on our journey back to the days of high adventure.

Dwellers of the Deep -- Volume 4 of Glenn G. Thater's epic fantasy series, Harbinger of Doom, is now available on kindle!

Dwellers of the Deep embraces the pulse-pounding action that the Harbinger of Doom Saga is known for, with battles so real, so immersive, you will find yourself reaching for your sword. Expansive in scope, Dwellers transforms the Saga into truly epic fantasy, and drops the reader into the Byzantine web of political intrigue that swirls about the Kingdom of Lomion.

In Glenn G. Thater’s world of Midgaard, some kill for love or honor; others die for blood and souls. In Dwellers of the Deep, the fourth volume of the saga unfolds across a vast ocean of bleak expanses and forbidden islands that harbor secrets best unspoken, ancient magics best left buried, voracious monsters of the gelid depths, and a god of the outer spheres whose wrath will shake the very foundations of Midgaard.

Within these pages, heroes and villains abound. But are the heroes those that quest with Theta to keep shuttered the portal betwixt the worlds, or those that sail with Korrgonn for god and glory, to restore Azathoth’s reign? Only you can decide. But in the end, Ob will tell you, evil is as evil does, and in Midgaard, only one thing is certain — nothing is as it seems.

Sometimes we wish we could stop the clock and rewind time. Maybe to savor a happy moment, take back words spoken in haste, or fulfill an ambition. Other times we want to turn the clock ahead, hopeful of better times or fortunes. Midnight and Holding is a collection of stories reflecting those desires. A mix of humor, pathos, and serious observations in approximately 12,000 words.

Rubies and Other Gems – A woman’s trip back in time puts her present problems in perspective. (This is the short that inspired my novel of the same name.)

The Shed – A newly erected garden shed is the catalyst that reconnects a driven executive with his neglected wife and children.

Harvey’s New Suit – A woman buys her husband his first new suit in years.

Rainbow Years – A carefree youth calls to mind a woman’s own dreams and desires.

Mad Dogs and Fishermen – A humorous account of an innocent suggestion taken to extreme.

Midnight and Holding – A parent’s rite of passage.

Midnight and Holding is currently FREE at most online bookstores. See if my writing style suits your taste before you invest time and money in my novels.

Music of the Spheres (The Interstellar Age Book 2)
a novel by Valmore Daniels

Ebook:
Amazon US / Amazon UK / B&N / Smashwords

++++++++++++

The technology for interstellar flight exists through the power of Kinemet, but the key to unlocking its code lies in a thousand-year-old scroll left on Earth by an alien species.

When the ancient manual is stolen before a full translation is completed, Alex, Michael and Justine scramble to recover it.

Along the way, they stumble on an interplanetary conspiracy and uncover a secret that shatters their view of life and shakes the very foundations of our existence.

++++++++++++

++++++++++++

In true nomadic spirit, Valmore Daniels has lived on the coasts of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans, and dozens of points in between.

An insatiable thirst for new experiences has led him to work in several fields, including legal research, elderly care, oil & gas administration, web design, government service, human resources, and retail business management.

His enthusiasm for travel is only surpassed by his passion for telling tall tales.

Thumbs up Well since everyone else is already doing it...

Hi all,

I just came out with my second novel, Save the Pearls Part One REVEALING EDEN!!

It's available at my website right now in eBook format!!

Also, since this is a shameless plugging thread, I guess it would be ok to post some links to some 5-star reviews as well...

There's this one, from Live to Read.

This one from The Book Shelf

And here's one from YA Bound!
