I'm able to download that locked story(very NSFW, btw) by itself and as the first of an anthology and I see 'Additional Tags' collected and displayed in the title pages as 'Freeform Tags' (when configured to appear, of course) and included in the calibre tags list. I tried with user/pass in personal.ini and manually entered both.

Yep, because you don't have "hide warnings" and "hide additional tags" checked in you AO3 preferences.

Is there a way to tell FFF to use a specific encoding for a specific site? ncisfiction.com has really screwy encoding and most of the time when I try to save a story from there I get a lot of strange characters. The same problem happens when I view it unless I switch the encoding to Unicode from western so I know it's the site. What I'd like to do is add something to my personal ini to tell it to always use Unicode, but I have no idea if that's possible or how to do it if it is?

Yes, you can control the encodings tried per site in personal.ini:

[ncisfiction.com]
website_encodings: utf8, Windows-1252

Many sites, when support for them was added, used 'western' encodings even if they claimed to be unicode and their default encodings reflect that.

If you're having to change to unicode for all (or most) stories, I will consider changing the default list for a site.

When I try this it turns red and I get the following error message when I click OK "Bad Section Name: [ncisfiction.com]"

Is there someplace in particular it should go in the personal.ini?

ncisfiction.com is another name for ncisfiction.net. Use [ncisfiction.net] (the first reported name for the site).

I changed the Chapter Start custom output as you indicated, and it works fine, except that it removed the new line after </h3>. This is minor and I can probably fix it manually, but is there a way to fix that. Do I have to also add in the Chapter End part? Is there a specific code I have to put in for that? I tried adding one or two that I thought might work, but while it didn't work, it didn't affect it negatively either that I could see...

If you find the invisible metadata offensive for some reason, you can customize the xhtml used at the beginning of each chapter file to remove it. Default is like so:

Whitespace is (mostly) irrelevant in (x)html. The presence or absence of a newline there shouldn't matter. (That said, sometimes it does matter due to poor (x)html parsers.)

Getting trailing newlines into custom output is a bit of a pain due to the INI file parser. There's a work around described on the CustomOutput wiki page. It should also work for epub.

You do not need to include the chapter_end just because you have chapter_start. Again, the details are on the wiki page.

I was pretty sure I didn't need the chapter_end, but figured it didn't hurt to ask if it could solve the problem. After trying different things, I thought it would be easier and faster to ask.
