@Noexpert: Yeah, that's usually caused by bad time keeping. Once the time is fixed/stable, open the book that's 'stuck' as the cover used, and then switch to another. Hopefully, that should resolve it. Is there anything special about the 'stuck' book that you could think of?
And no, the file in the userstore isn't updated until a reboot, so that's perfectly normal, it's just there to keep track of what was the current cover after a reboot. |

The pinfo function does not work correctly for me. Appear the "If found this..." but my personal info phonenumber, my name ect. does not show. Strange thing, the "If found this..." appears with big (enlarged?) characters. Is this normal?

@hanog: Which version of the hack are your running? (And on which FW version?).
How 'big' do you mean? ![]() |

Ok, the bigger thing is maybe normal. PW1 FW5.4.4, From snapshot: kindle-linkss-0.16.N-r10409.tar.xz
The linkss stable version in the first post working with the new fw? Maybe just a minor bug in the snapshot version. |

@hanog: Yup, I possibly messed up when merging dsmid's pinfo changes. I'll check it out sometime next week.

@NiLuJe: Good idea, but nope, it still doesn't want to play ball. Nothing special about the 'stuck' book (Calibre: side-loaded - Covers: 400x600). If I remove the stuck book it just replaces it with another random book cover from 'documents'. I've been using this hack since you released it for the paperwhite and this is the first time it's not run smoothly.
In the meantime, I've tried wiping all the installed books . Loaded 10 others. Time read 19:37 - Restart [for good measure] - time now reads 17:47 - adjusted clock to current time - into sleep mode - shows last book cover (A) - open new book (B) - wait.. - Sleep mode - New and correct book cover (B) - change book to (J) - wait... - hasn't changed, still book cover (B) - Repeat a number of times on other books and still display cover (B) - Delete book (B) - Open new book (C) - wait... - Sleep mode - displays a completely new random book cover (D)!! You can only have so much fun in one evening, I think I'll have another crack at it tomorrow. à bientôt |

@Noexpert: It's not so much the time as the date I'm worried about... What do the timestamps look like in the documents folder when you look at it over USB?
That' on a PW1 on 5.4.4? |

@hanog: Yup, I messed up. It'll be fixed in the next snapshots (probably sometime tomorrow, after I look at my PW1, to see if a weird db schema change is the root of Noexpert's issue).

I have no idea if my current linkss problem is related to this date issue, but I noticed after applying the python update I had folders that had creation dates listed as tomorrow at 2:31am. A bit disconcerting to see things with creation dates in the future.
![]() My current woes: upgraded to 5.4.4 on pw1 to get goodreads., installed Dev Certs, Rescue Pack, Python and Linkss in that order. No cover-SS love yet. I appreciate any and all suggestions! ![]() |

@AllenH-
Are you just not getting covers or no screensavers at all? |

Reset Device
@NiLuJe: Success.
Simply; I reset the device. S.O.P. Registered it again and then installed everything from scratch (Jailbreak/Python/Linkss [Cover & Stretch]. Restarted it a final time and voilà. I'm guessing; but could it be that the semi-broken JB wasn't completely overwritten when I updated it yesterday? Don't Know. What I did notice when installing the .bins, is that unlike before, the time was always correct on restart. Maybe nothing, but reassuring. I'd like to thank you again for taking the time, and having the patience, to address the technical issues the 'not so expert' have when tailoring their devices. It's much appreciated. I'm just relieved you didn't waste this evening on this particular glitch. Last edited by Noexpert; 03-10-2014 at 11:42 AM. |
