Hello guys!
I'm a little confused about how to install SS on my Kindle. I wish he showed each of the last open book when it was turned off. I have a PW 2 with software 5.4.2.1. I need to install only *Update_python_0.9.N_install_pw2.bin* + *Update_linkss_0.16.N_install_pw2.bin* + Archiving "cover"? Or simply just Python v0.9.N + KUAL? ![]() |

@ddimasbr: JB, MKK, KUAL, Python, SS.
Then setup the SS hack from KUAL. |

@ NiLuJe
JB, MKK, KUAL, Python, SS = in this exact order of installation? The SS means Update_linkss_0.16.N_install_pw2.bin file? |

@ddimasbr: Yes to both

My Paperwhite 2 is not showing the cover. I get "The ScreenSavers Hack has been successfully installed!" when I put it to sleep. I don't know what a Kindlet Kit or KUAL is but I followed the instructions in the first message in this thread.
The empty cover file I used has a txt extension. Is that OK? I too have a Paperwhite 2 with software 5.4.2.1. |

@Gronk: Nope, that .txt extension is the reason it's not in cover mode

@NiLuJe: Thank you sir. I wasn't certain that Windows would allow me to just have no extension.

@Gronk: it doesn't by default, hence the recommendation to use KUAL.
(FWIW, the setting to always show file extensions is hidden somewhere in the Explorer's folder settings). |

It would be nice to have a chance to put your own (localized) text in personal info instead of "If found,...". (cover-extract could read the text from a file).
And converting those ugly unicode escape sequences in com.lab126.booklet.settings.preferences to UTF-8 would be nice as well: Code:
# Extract the info from the settings (convert linefeeds to semicolons to avoid ending up with an unreadable mess for LF heavy strings. Remember that 60px is *small*! ImageMagick takes care of wordwrapping if [ -x /usr/bin/uconv ] ; then UCONV=uconv -x 'Hex/Java-Any' -f iso-8859-1 -t utf-8 else UCONV=cat fi if [ -f "${LINKSS_BASEDIR}/pinfo_header" ] ; then pinfo_header=$(cat "${LINKSS_BASEDIR}/pinfo_header") else pinfo_header="If found, please contact: " fi pinfo_msg="${pinfo_header} $(grep PERSONAL_INFO /var/local/java/prefs/com.lab126.booklet.settings.preferences | $UCONV | cut -d= -f2 | sed 's/\\n/; /g')" |

@dsmid: It seems so natural that I actually thought it already was supported ;p.
Thanks, will merge this later this week ![]() |

Hi, there's a new Paperwhite 2 firmware update: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=201307450
Will updating break the screensaver hack? |
