For you and for those interested in KOReader nightly builds, I compiled a quick guide:

https://github.com/koreader/koreader/issues/11068 You nightly with the commit to fix KOReader startup on your Kindle (Basic, KT4) will be up in about 5 hours from now. |

Problem: Kindle Scribe on 5.16.2 failed to install KUAL.

When I copied both Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install.bin and (coplate) Update_KUALBooklet_d0eb25b_install.bin into kindle , and run the ;log mrpi,it appeared error like “failed to remount rootfs ro” and some files with name KPPMainAppV2 were created in documents. And there was no KUAL in library. The version of MR Installer I used was kual-mrinstaller-1.7.N-r19293. Would someone give me some advice? Thanks in advance. |

Question: is this update_hotfix_languagebreak-{language you want to end up with}.bin a replacement of Niluje's JB_hotfix that one has to install after that old jb method, or do I have to apply both?

I agree that the issue is with MRPI. I tried using Marek's zip file called "extension.zip"(#72), but the error “failed to remount rootfs ro” still happened. Thanks your advice again. |

Huge thank you to all who have worked on this jailbreak, excellent work

![]() Is there any reason to update to a later version such as 5.16.2.1 if you are on 5.15.1 and the jailbreak is working? (E.g bug fixes/battery life/stability) |

Thanks very much for your response. I have tried many times using latest MRPI(r19293) and (coplate) KUAL, but failed to install KUAL, with the error "failed to remount rootfs ro" showing every time. Would you please read the mrinstaller log shown below, and help me figure out what's wrong with MRPI? Any help is sincerely appreciated. My Kindle Scribe is on 5.16.2 with serial ---23M--.
