Plastic Logic never got as long as this has. I can't remember if they had a preorder, but I do know that they were pretty hazy on details for a while, and this one is really fleshed out. So I'm not scared. I may be stupid, but I'm not scared!

PL did have a pre-order. They had accessories for the Que as well. They just cancelled everything soon after the iPad was announced.

daffy4u, OK, I thought they closed before the preordering. I was waiting to preorder, but maybe it was US preordering only.

luqmaninbmore, that's explained at the blog. Everybody does it. I seem to remenber an iPad commercial showing a webpage with flash...

From what I've seen of them (on YouTube videos and reviews) it's very much worht it! I'll be getting the Pixel Qi with Wi-Fi and 3G, even though I don't need 3G. Just for fun, the price difference is really nothing. But I think Notion Ink's E-mail system has gone flat on it's belly from trying to send out so many E-mails. We'll wait and see if somebody gets an E-mail, then I can start waiting on mine.

Oy, ain't that the truth. I've been to CES several times and I have yet to see anything I mentioned about there actually making it to store shelves. Heck, Swiss Army talked about their Presentation Pro several years ago and I have yet to see anything.

9-10" Mirasol or Liquavista Color and at least Android tablet OS (3.0 or greater)
before I'll be shelling out that much for such a reading tablet.

Maybe a cheap 7" color LCD tablet with 3.0 and higher resolution, until then. (Possibly
by mid 2012 for the ones I'm waiting for.)

Ken, you're a very patient man. So patient I would probably beat you over the head with something hard if we were in the same room, patient people make me crazy! Seriously, I really don't have time to wait for that. I'm expecting that mid 2012 I'm on my second or third large Android tablet. I have had my current phone (HTC HD2) for almost a year now, and I think that's a new record for me the last ten years. Likewize with laptops, in January my current Dell Precision M6500 (17" i7 monster, the power supply weighs more than my reserve Asus Eee) will be one year old in February, and that is very long for me as well. Gadgets are fun until something newer and better comes along, then it's time to demote them to one of the kids and go on!

As for the price the Pixel Qi screen to me means that I would pay twice as much as a one if those crappy, locked down, limiting iPads without flinching since it works in direct sunlight, and I enjoy sitting in my garden in the summertime reading proof. So far I have had to use paper for that. Now I can get on with saving trees!

And now the first one's in the books. Preordred and paid for, insured by VISA. I see many people freaking out on the Notion Ink blog thinking about maybe or maybe not... Worst case scenario the thing never appears and you'll get your money back (minus 5-10 %) from VISA. If they can't afford to take a chance that may cost them $50 I really don't want to be around when those kids buy their first car! Me, I'm an optimist. I think I will have it in my mailbox before January tuns to February.

They seem aware of the limitations of Android on a "big" machine and claim a better solution.

The fact that the Pixel Qi screen adds over $100.00 is a bit of puzzlement as it is supposed to be lowering prices.

That's just wrong. The Pixel Qi screen has always been more expensive than a regular screen. I have never heard anybody saying that they were going to be cheaper, if that's what you mean. And a difference of 100 is nothing. Most people use more than that if they go out on town a Saturday night! Heck 8 beers on any bar in Norway will set you back that much.

I'm glad to hear the average Norwegian has money to blow. Lots of us here in the States live paycheck-to-paycheck and have to wait a long time for new toys...
