Regarding BooksOnBoard, I cannot find the city even, no less the phone number, for these folks. General Emails to admin have no effect. Anybody got any contacts or at least a location for their offices?

A simple search of their website lists Austin, Texas.

A simple Google search, such as this

booksonboard phone number austin texas

gives you their phone number.

Searching for this information is quite easy.

Hi Robert,

I also want to welcome you back. I knew you would return.

I would like a device that will read both PRC and PDB formats. I have an EZ Reader now that reads the PRC, but I have a backlog of both types of ebooks. Will the Pocket Pro read both formats?

Thanks,
NeweReader

Yeah, I google answers to technical problems probably 3 or 4 times a day on average. How did we ever get along in the old days (before google!)

we had help files and we figured it out ourselves, and didn't let others do it for us

It this big huge building in most small towns and cities throughout the land. They called them "Libraries"

And if the place was not in your state, then chances were you never knew about it.

Also, there was 411, Directory Assistance. I used to be a 411 operator for Vz Wireless and T-Mobile for 4 years. funfunfun

Dear Don and All:

Thank you for your helping post. Much to my surprise they already leaped to respond to my email sent to their general website. We are talking now on how best to set everything up.

We think, between Powells Books and Books On Board we will be able to offer top notch support for all who want DRM Adobe Digital Edition eBooks!!

The Cool-ER actually does read both PRC Mobi files and PDB (Aportis Doc) Make sure to rename the pdb files to prc, though!

Dear NeweReader:

It is SO nice to be back.

Actually, your EZ Reader supports both PRC and PDB formats in non-secure, non-DRM. So will the Pocket PRO.

You cannot get Secure (DRM) Mobi PRC and Secure (DRM) PDB on the same device as Mobipocket is exclusive and forbids combining with any other format so Amazon can keep you buying ONLY from them. Mobi is not a friendly and easy format when it comes to Open Format. They want it ALL! This is my biggest gripe with Mobi... they act very possesive!

Hope this helps. Just post again if not. You are always welcome!

Dear mtravellerh:

Yes, the Cool-er does read in PRC and PDB. We know as we make the same exact device known as Mentor Lite at Astak.

BUT, does the Cool-er have an Epson Controller with 400MHz processor? Nope. Does it have Text-To-Speech? Nope. Does it display in 12 formats and 20 languages? Nope. Did Cool-er come to MobileRead Forum in person and work with the members one-on-one? I think not. Did Cool-er consult with MobileRead Forum members before deciding to have colors? Nope.

In its own way, the Cool-er is a decent device... but I would rather buy a Mentor Lite and have USA technical support and somebody online from the company to answer questions.

I thank you for your post.

Dear mtravellerh:

Sorry, the Cool-er just is my one sore spot. It gets all the publicity and the Mentor Lite does not. They are the same! YET... both devices are made by OUR factory; which is so strange.

We did NOT jump to sell the Mentor Lite in the UK or the EZ Reader. The Cool-er DID jump the pond to beat us to our own territory. I apologize for the sales pitch. I just am not on great terms with that company.

You are always welcome here!
