Dear ALL:

Providing all goes smoothly and Jinke lets us proceed with the EZ Reader Pocket PRO (which we think they will do) then the buttons will be done in the matching color: Slate Blue body gets Slate Blue Buttons.

However, IF somebody wants to do a deal>>> like two people are buying different colors and they want the buttons switched (slate blue buttons on a black and black buttons on a slate blue) it is a chore but we may be able to switch around for you (MAYBE).

I think Griffonwing wants violet buttons on his slate blue!

I'd prefer Black, but hey, Slate Blue buttons are better than White.

When the EZ Reader Pocket PRO is finally reality... I want to get the word out! I saw a post of a poor fellow that lived blocks from the Cool-er facility and was treated rudely.

If you live near San Jose,California, send me a private message and we will set up an appointment. I would LOVE to have some test drives posted. You cannot take them out of the offices... but you are more than welcome to sit in our lobby and put them through their paces!

Likewise, when the time draws nearer, I will send out free guest passes to all requests to get you into CES in Vegas (January 7-10). You can test drive there too.

I was just browsing through the days inputs on the main screen and saw some concerns about the Kindle.

And I thought....when you, if you get to, send out the Pocket Pro to the two talk show hosts, why not send one to Oprah as well. Maybe she'll say this one's better than Kindle..........

I do not foresee this happening. That would be tantamount to her actually saying she was wrong.

Also, it would be like Michael Jordan going on a talkshow and confessing that he actually prefers to wear Fruit of the Looms underwear (or 'pants' to you blokes in the UK).

What, exactly, did she say. All I heard was she endorsed it. Was she a paid endorser, or did she just bring it out. If she said it was a great idea, all Astak needs say is they have a comparable or better product. If she was a paid endorser, then yeah, no need to even think about her.

Obviously, I didn't see the episode, because I don't watch her show.

I highly doubt she gave Amazon that much publicity freely. They had to have come to some agreement. Even so, think about it this way. She endorses the Kindle. How would it look if she came out on her show and touted another ereader. What would her viewers/followers/worshippers think?

I say 'worshippers' because I know people who read specifics books ONLY because they are on Oprahs book list. Also, noone has as much clout on the talk-show circuit as Oprah. Some people take what she says as gospel.

A shame, really.

But I digress. She has already supported the Kindle. It would not be condusive to her good relations with her viewers if she openly supported another ereader. I would suggest, therefore, that you bypass Oprah and choose another talkshow.

Ellen Degeneres is definatley a good choice. Also, Bonnie Hunt.

Amazon is already out with the K DX, so it's about time....

I just saw this Onyx 9.7", which seems to be available now (even if it seems a bit ugly/cheap - hopefully the price will correspond to its looks.) Anyone bringing it to the US? Astak?

I'm not sure it is available yet, since delivery is in 90 days.

It is interesting that this includes TTS (text to speech) support. Amazon has let the cat out of the bag with TTS on the Kindle, and I expect to see this on most dedicated reading devices from now on.

Reading the fine print at the bottom, this is obviously the manufacturer, it says minimum order of 3000 devices. So I gues that lets our orders out.

Not sure I get the "ugly" part. I realize design in subjective as there is but to my eye it is a simple and very elegant design. There is no overly large or small bezel, it is hand agnostic (assuming it supports rotation), and there is the single long bar to control navigation.

I just don't see ugly, plain certainly, but plain is good in a reading device...it's simple design uncluttered and makes sense to my idea of an easy to use device for reading. Help me understand what I am not seeing that you are...

I want to know what is going on with the Astak Mentor e-books. Did the 5 inch become the EZ Reader Pocket Pro? What happened to the 6inch and 9.7inch ones?

Is there a place I can find all this information (without having to read 150+ pages on this thread)?
