Here's another buyer of a slate blue EZReader Pocket PRO. It has everything I want: eInk, smaller form factor, two popular (and well-supported) DRM formats, and North American-based sales and support. My birthday is at the end of July, but I don't mind waiting a week or two for my pressie. I probably shouldn't be surprised to find we have a nest of Leos here...

Robert, I think the real questions are: Can the parrot prove it was his idea? Will the courts agree to try a case called Parrot vs Astak? and finally... Would said parrot settle out of court for crackers???

Sci Fi Clubs?

Dear Slayda:

Another great idea!! I am ready to go after them. Do you know of any big SciFi clubs? I think that is excellent. SciFi is a huge part of eBook sales at any eBook store.

I also need help with the airlines. I sold an Easy Reader to one freight jet pilot who loves it. She said once they get those big planes up there is little to do. Pilots cannot sleep or stroll the aisles. She says that tedium and boredom are a major problem. Any airline pilots out there?? Maybe Griffonwing?

Settling with the parrot.

I hear a lawyer's mind talking. Imagine Griffonwing appearing in court in full pilot outfit and slate blue toenails. The parrot would win hands down. I am trying to compensate the parrot somehow. We could name our 7.5 Inch the "EZ Parrot Beaker". It would have text to speech but sound like a parrot!! OOPS, wait a second, Kindle already has that.

Actully, its not a parrot. It's a puppet. Close enough tho. It's actually a griffon puppet that I purchased at the KC Renfest several years ago. He rarely speaks to me. Only when I have had too much rum.

Jeez, you people want slate blue bad. I hear you. I have turned it in. NOW, if the benevolent Astak executives will listen to me. Maybe I should come out with my own Slate Blue eBook Reader... "The Blue Parrot". Come on, oh mighty Astak, hear the voice of the people!!

This just in! Delta flight 101 crashed today. The pilot was overheard saying "Let it autoland. I really have to know who killed Dumbledore!"

Honestly, though, I think it would be keep the tedium down. You can read your free time away instead of using your time 'wondering what this button does....'

A one-ups-man on griffonwing.....
Why not send one to President Obama. He likes his blackberry. You can sell this that it does NOT have wifi for anyone to hack into. Yet give him ability to read all those reports he has to see everyday.

Yes, he and his family read a lot. The ONLY problem is getting it into his hands without the secret service taking it!! I think they would NEVER let it through unless someone trusted hands one to him. I need a contact at the White House. Any White House staffers out there??

The idea is fabulous!! I am just trying to figure out how to get it to him!

I DID come up with one idea: the Academy Awards. Every star gets a Goodie Bag filled with Rhinestone Cell Phones and all sorts of free stuff. I think I would need to give away 1,000 devices to fill the bags but if just Paris Hilton would get in a Thong Bikini and be seen at Saint Tropez with an Astak EZ Reader!! Paris, please post!! Paris could get through to Obama too!!

You think Paris reads?

On another topic ... I have been surprised that no one has struck a deal with Baen. They are leaders in ebook sales, and they have quite a few free books they offer. I would be very surprised if they aren't open to distribution of their free library on an ebook reader.

For a while, some of the fans at Baen even got together and formed a buying club for ebook readers, but they've since folded shop. They may have already sold book readers (Cybooks) to many barflies (the folks on the Baen message boards). However, I have to assume that some demand still exists. I expect that if you talk to Arnold (in charge of the webscriptions store) he would be interested in adding a link from their store to yours. Cut him in on some type of affiliate commission and I'm sure he'd be even more interested.

Visit their message board at: bar.baen.com and leave a message for the publisher (Tony Weiskopf - not sure that's spelled right) in the forum "Tony's Table" or visit "Webscriptions" and leave a message for the 'proprietor' of their electronic store: Arnald Bailey.
