ok I am 4 days into it and I have erm 14 machines running various OS's (its my job - I run a software development company). Compared to my single core AMD it is pretty good - probably faster but that is just a subjective evalution. It does what I expected it to. Internet, Mail and Office 2007 (primarily Word). I am tempted to try Visual Studio 2008 on it but think that will slow it to a crawl - we shall see.

Yea, I have the 1000 HA. Mobipocket works fine at full screen mode. you can either rotate the screen or read with 2 columns. I prefer that to the wide screen with one column.

Iirc, the discount is for the upgrade version only. Then again, most netbooks already have an XP license (unless you got one with Linux) so majority should be covered.

August in Chicago is pretty bad and they still have to deal with the ugly winters!

Yep! I think most people will be buying the upgrade and not the full package.
