Wouldn't a factor in whether someone is a cyborg or not depend on whether the artificial part is a permanent part of their body? Since glasses/contact lenses are not actually part of a person's body wouldn't that mean that they are not a cyborg? The Teen Titans member Cyborg has over 50% of his body consisting of artificial parts (he maintains a room in the Headquarters where each night he is taken part and put back together, the only visible human part of his body was part of his head), thus wouldn't he be considered a Cyborg regardless of the name? Likewise, wouldn't Iron Man be considered a cyborg since he has a reactor in his chest that is part of his body and is needed to keep him alive?

Was cyborg not a portmanteau word created from cybernetic and organism? Do wooden legs or glasses or glass eyes qualify as cybernetic?

Cybernetics is about comms and control isn’t it?
Isn’t a cyborg a melding of biology and technology hardwired as you say?

Would the increase in cost match the increase in other costs so $6 million US in 1974 would increase to $66 million US today? Should we allow for decrease in the cost of technology since 1974? OTOH, since the technology used is still fictional today, would it not be whatever the writers felt like using?

Wouldn't you also have to take into account the difference between the book and the pilot episode of the series? In the book the artificial eye is basically just a camera that isn't able to actually see, so wouldn't it be less expense that a functioning artificial eye?
