Onyx Boox as monitor

May be there's something Onyx can do about the flashing. Have you consulted with Booxtor about this?

Also, thanks for the additional work on the double-clicking parameters -- I updated the local version to use 800 ms.

BTW, the whole thing almost works with a Raspberry Pi 2 -- there's (may be) one item remaining to sort out. For details, see the 'Max 2 and Raspberry Pi monitor mode' thread.

Hi, I am not really sure since I have not used it that way yet in a production setting - I have not yet built an intensive/extensive experience. As you see we are still improving the whole featureset. Regal mode option was a milestone, touchscreen is another. And I use EPD in natural light... It's winter here.

I bet, out of the experience built in the tests, that the Max2 will be an asset as a production device outdoors. I confirm that you get more than used to the EPD lag - you go towards forgetting about it - while using HDMI; remember with my mods you can also switch "fast" to "high quality" whenever needed.

Now, for programming you may want to note that syntax highlighting effect is dimmed;
for web browsing you may not need to go beyond the native Android - just install Lightning (enable high contrast mode) or any other browser we discussed about in the Web Browsers thread and which enables to correct the stochastic designer's idiocy of "fog tint on white".

If you work in dark rooms, use OLED screens with black background applications.

Hi everyone. I bought my Max 2 Pro several weeks ago but the battery life is a tragedy from the beginning: if I use it as a monitor the battery is empty after 2 hours. It is the same if I use it for browsing with WiFi. Do you have the same experience or my battery is wrong? I have an Energy Sister e-reader pro+ and however it is slower but I can use for browsing at least 10 hours or more before the battery empties. Thanks.

FWIW, I've been using it as a HDMI monitor with it plugged in to a PC's USB port at the same time -- in this configuration, usually its battery seems to last (perhaps it's charging?). I usually have WiFi turned off though.

If you are using the Onyx Monitor in A2 mode, the battery is supposed to deplete very fast, because of the reasons often here reiterated about the non dynamic optimizbtion of the Floyd-Steinberg. This is why Onyx esplicitly recommends to also connect the USB cable and charge it during use.
About other factors for discharge, you could install GSam Battey Monitor and check what's impacting.

I am sorry I am replying through a phone and I have limited usability of the forum search, but if you just skim previous page by previous page you will meet them. This thread has many of them attachments, and you will meet them very soon.

I installed the mod2 and will be testing. One remark: if the device in A2 when I start monitor, than I can't switch to normal inside the app. Just in case somebody wonders

? No, I grant you... Tap on the SW corner. The corner commands map is:

Menu | ... | Refresh
... | ... | ...
Normal | ... | A2

Tap close to the corner: "corner" is within 100px, half an inch, 12 millimeters.

The problem is that in monitor mode the battery drains faster than my charger can fill it up. And if I always charge it during use I will kill the battery within some months.

Is there anybody knows if the monitor cable of the Max2 is a special one or a regular HDMI - microHDMI cable? I tried to use a regular hdmi-hdmi cable with an hdmi -microhdmi adapter but it did not work. I want to use the Max2 on two different computers.

I bought an adapter to DVI and a longer cable HDMI - Micro HDMI, both are working fine.

Have you been switching to normal mode, at least when the contents are more static? Their "A2 while monitor" swarms!
Do you have a "clean" normal mode or do you have flash on mid grey as I do?

With my Max2, starting at 99% charge, medium stress testing

Connected to Wi-Fi and with Bluetooth paired to BT earbuds
Personal and company email being received and read through the Outlook app
Streaming music via Wi-Fi and radio app running in the background outputting via BT to earbuds (CapitalFM app)
Running the "Battery" app from MacroPinch (Google Play store) for capacity and time monitoring

Run time over 4 runs averages at 9 hrs 55 minutes
