"Themes" doesn't exist on my copy of Bookari.

Also, it looks like Bookari doesn't recognize a plain "Text" file as in ".txt".

When I first bought Mantano, the app opened up to the bookshelf. I liked that, but it now opens up to the advertisement for the cloud thing and also, for some reason, it complains that I need an internet connection. Is there a setting to automatically skip all that and just have the app open directly to the bookshelf?

Please add my vote for this too. I don't understand why we need to see books available for purchase when we've already paid for the app.

I only saw the new cloud sign-in page once since the change to Bookari, but I clicked on the "skip" button and haven't seen it since (unless I specifically bring it up).

Mine (Premium) also doesn't open to the Store (New & Noteworthy) page. Mine consistently opens to the "Currently Reading/Recently Added" page (or the last read point in the current book I'm reading if the app is still running in the background, of course).

I remember seeing the Store (New & Noteworthy) page a long time ago, but I don't recall doing anything special to dismiss it.

I can live with the "Currently Reading/Recently Added" shelf (and actually prefer it when my shelf is crowded). They're still my books after all, and it's easy to get to the full shelf from there if needed.

That's what I see, too (Mantano/Bookari Premium).

Tap on the center of the screen to bring up the menus and I see (across the bottom):

This is the screen I'm talking about. The screen is sectioned into rough thirds: "Login to Mantano Cloud", "Currently Reading" and "Get the Most Out of Your Reading".

I can live with it, too, but I don't like it. The app used to open to the list of titles with the collections bar on the left. This is the interface that I actually use and it bugs me to have to drill down to it every time I start the app. It probably wouldn't bother me as much if it had always been that way, but the bookshelf screen is already close to the optimal interface. I don't understand the decision to put a worse one in front of it with no apparent way to get rid of it, when the app is otherwise so customizable.

Hmmm. Mine is a single, small button (top right) labeled " Sign in" (no section header), below that is the Currently Reading section, and below that, the Recently Added (my recently added books) section. I'm not seeing anything about Mantano Cloud or "Get the Most Out of Your Reading."

I understand wanting to be taken directly to the main bookshelf interface, though. If I had a ton of books and collections set up, I'd feel the same way. But I really don't use its library management features at all. It only ever has a handful of books I haven't read yet in it.

The collection system is actually my favorite part of Mantano and why I bought it in the first place. Mantano is unique (as far as I can tell, anyway) in that it allows nested collections. The interface for creating the nested heirarchy is a little clunky, but I can't think of a better way to do it on a phone or tablet, so I guess it is what it is. I ended up laying out the heirarchy that I wanted in an SQL script to add it directly to the Mantano database. Whenever I buy a new device, I pull the database back to my PC, run the script, and push the database back. I still have to add each book to its collection when I import it from Calibre Companion, but I really like the interface once that's done.

Your opening page is a lot different than mine. I wonder why? Is there a separate phone/tablet UI I wonder (assuming yours is a phone, but I'm not really sure)?

My Bookari Premium is ver 3.04 build 379. Between Highlight & Display ARE Scroll & Crop icons. NO Theme.

Looks like some people are getting different formats of the "same" version!

Mine is the same version/build number. If you're seeing Scroll and Crop perhaps you're reading a PDF not an EPUB. Theme may be an EPUB-only feature.

Given that you're using Calibre Companion there's no real reason why you need to see the Bookari "home screen" at all, is there? Open book from either CC Book Details or CC widget or CC BookList/CoverGrid - Choose Bookari as the app to read with and you're directly into the book, not the Bookari home screen.

Although I don't use it myself I believe CC has a rudimentary ability to nest Collections - possibly only down to one level, though.

That would be my guess, too. I have no PDFs in my library and I've never seen Scroll & Crop entries in the main menu. It also makes sense that you wouldn't be able to "Theme" a PDF.

I like Bookari's interface better, but you're right, there's no practical reason. (I guess I'd better get used to the name change, though, eh?) If my goal were simply to avoid seeing the home screen, there are ways I could accomplish that. Having a setting for it, though, would not only let me skip the home screen, but allow me to do everything exactly the way I otherwise want to.

I use CC as a downloader only and then import the books into Bookari. I only started using Calibre Companion in the first place because Android switched to MTP for file transfer. Before that, I mounted Android devices as USB drives and used Calibre's "connect to folder" functionality.

Calibre tags don't have any sort of heirarchy. I can search and sort any number of ways, but the result is flat.
