Like page curl animations and page views (as long as the page view doesn't require too much screen real estate).

Just upgraded and am running the new Mantano on Jelly Beans on my Xoom. Works great!
The page curl and page turning and pages below feature is very nicely implemented. Looks great and is very snappy. Nice! Also I like the two-page view in landscape. But I would like to be able to turn all that off to have a very plain userinterface. Nothing but just a page of text. Previously that was exactly what Mantano provided and I really liked that. Nothing to disturb the reading. Could that be an option in the future? Please? |

I absolutely hate that fakes paper pages!
It is ridiculous, if I want to see pages I'll get a paper book; on an electronic device I read an Epub file. This only cost screen space; my Note is just the right size for a portable reader, but I do not have real estate to spare; taking a piece of the right for these silly nonfunctional 'pages' is completely unnecessarily. And why can't they be switched off when I turn off animations? ![]() Exactly the reason why I switched from Ibooks to Bluefire reader on my Ipad, stupid fake pages. And why the hell is a beta pushed to me? Beta's are meant for testing, not the surprise innocent paying clients with! It annoys me so much that I'm starting to look for alternatives; pity, until now I found Mantano perfect. ![]() Last edited by dura; 08-05-2012 at 04:42 AM. |

Couple of suggestions, allow me the option of specifying which view I want to open with and allow me the option to specify that filenames are used as titles.
Thank you for your consideration. |

Hi all..
I tried Mantano on a friend smartphone and I have to say that I found it quite good (even if I still prefer EZPDF, but only 'cause it's the one I always used). The smartphone I used yesterday is - just like mine ![]() It's a problem I still found on Adilko, for example, while with EZPDF you can easily zoom with the volume keys. Do I miss something? I'll be glad to know that, if possible.. Thanks very much for paying attention, see ya! ![]() |

I really really HATE the new page turn and wish I never updated it. Tried uninstalling it and installing the last apk but there must be something left behind that prevents it from opening the old app. If there were only a way to disable the new page turn I'd be happy.
Glad I only updated on my phone and not my tablet. Hope I don't accidently update the tab. Since there seems to be quite a few who like the new page turn, maybe there could be a way to switch to the one you prefer? |

I don't have automatic updates and I actually did the update thinking I could revert to the last apk if I didn't like it. Unfortunately, the reinstalled old apk wouldn't open and I had to go back to the new update. Hoping they come out with something to fix my problem (seeing as I seem to be in the minority here).

Another bug in the unwelcome beta; when I switch (on my Galaxy Note) form day view to night view and back I see the last letter of every sentence from the page before on the left.
Probably something to do with the cheesy lines on the left indicating more 'pages' are coming that take up a character space and disappear in nightview. But there is a bright site too; in my irritation I started looking for alternatives and found Moon +; free (I did buy the premium, I think good apps should make money, but the differences compared to the free version are small) and even more customisation options then Mantano (amongst which a smooth free scroll option and some nice themes). So at least until Mantano cleans up and goes back to being the very good reader it was before I'm out. |

Dear all,
We have received a lot of encouraging feedback after this 2.2.0 release, and we will take a lot of requests into account for the next minor upgrade. For example, it will be possible to remove the background which emulates a real book, for a more modern feeling. It will also be possible to switch the page curl effect off, for people who prefer apps which do not try to mimic real-world objects. We will also integrate our new manual crop, which allows to specify the 4 margins separately, etc. So stay tuned, we do our very best to publish this asap. Best regards, Jean-Marie |

Glad to hear it, nice as Moon plus and Aldiko are, they are still bested by MantAno when it is in top shape!

I got the page curl today after letting my tablet update last night, and it is sooooooooo distracting. It also slows page turns and obstructs the text while doing so. Waving a special effect in my face makes the medium more apparent, not less. There is no way such a feature should have been implemented without the means to turn it off. /rant On a possibly related note, Mantano no longer seems to register a long press after the update, meaning no more dictionary look-up (or notation and highlighting, if I were into that sort of thing). The line of pages on the side is less aggravating than the curl, but it is taking up my screen space while doing nothing. Anything on the screen besides the text (including any embedded illustrations or glyphs) is by definition an unnecessary distraction. |
