New Reader with great pdf-support: Mantano Reader (like aldiko+ezpdf)

Ok, I've been using Mantano for a bit and it seems like a good reader. However, I can't seem to find how to set up an offline dictionary. Does Mantano support said feature?

Also, though this is hardly a "complaint", I'm noticing that though I have the free version I haven't seen a single ad. Not once. Do they simply pop up intermittently?

I use the ColorDict app with Mantano.

Is any of Mantano reader apps compatible with the Kindle Fire? I don't like the Nook app and am using Aldiko but I'd like some more features.

Mantano works fine with the Kindle Fire. It's what I use.

At Blossom's request I'm posting here as she says folks can't use library books with Mantano.

I've never had a problem doing so and have been using Mantano since I reviewed it for Dear Author in August '11.


The only way I've tried it is to connect my device via USB so it shows up in ADE and then drag the desired book "onto" the device then disconnect USB. Open Mantano and import the book. The book opens and works fine.

Huh? I can download the book from the library directly into Mantano. No need for the USB connection. I use Opera browser and once I check out and download, click on Open and Mantano is one of the options.

ETA: I actually just tried it out and got a message that Mantano had stopped working. I click on "wait" rather than "force close" and 3 seconds later, voila!

Yep. Shows up in my library and I can tag it, add it to collections etc. It behaves just like a normal book for as long I have it checked out.

I can't wait for my replacement to get here to try this! That is if I have another ADE activation left. My Fire is broke. New one will be here tomorrow.

Slightly off topic:

I got a Kindle 4 for Christmas and I love it so far. Does anyone know if there's a way to show a book's description for books I didn't get from Amazon? I sometimes like to read the synopsis of books in my library before delving in. I know it's in the metadata info since I fixed all that in Calibre before transferring them over. I guess I've been spoiled by Mantano.

How do you get Mantano to show the synopsis? I didn't think it would! I'm loading Mantano via Dropbox.

Unfortunately, not on a Mac, or at least not with my Xoom. Need to use Android File Transfer to move files, which ADE knows nothing about. But hopefully it will work with my Fire, since that doesn't need AFT, and so ADE should be able to see the device.

Long pressing on a book creates a pop-up of the book's info. It includes the tags, file tree, rating, book description, add date and last access date etc...
